Another cool feature in The Sims 3 Island Paradise is the ability to live on a houseboat! This allows you to build up your home and take it from port to port, allowing your Sims to experience a change of scenery everyday. Now, while this may seem like one of the biggest features in Island Paradise, it really is not and there is so much to do.

To create your own houseboat, you have to click on an empty space at a port and you can click to create the houseboat. You then enter the build & buy mode you all know and love and can get creative! With the addition of ladders and the all-in-one bathroom, you can worry less about space as these replace the need for a large bathroom and stairs.

One of the best parts of houseboats is that you can place anything on the water. You could put the diner rabbit hole or anything you’d like onto them! It’s pretty nifty and will open so many new opportunities for builders.

Now that you’re out at sea, you’ll need to get from your boat to the land, right? Well this is when boats come in! NPC’s will use boats to get out to you in the event of an emergency – so don’t worry if your boat sets alight! You can also take advantage of boats by purchasing anything from a paddleboat to a speedboat (watch out for the kraken).

There are no downsides to living out at sea, while Pets are not recommended you can still have them at sea too. You can also take advantage of fun new activities such as windsurfing and scuba diving (more on scuba diving in a future preview). In the video above, you’ll be able to see windsurfing in action and it’s awesome! There are so many new things to do and new ways to play with life in The Sims 3 Island Paradise.

Check out the video above and tell us what you think about houseboats. I absolutely love them and enjoyed driving them around the waters of Isla Paradiso!
