Tuesday, EA put out and then quickly retracted an update for The Sims 3 on iPhone / iPod touch due to a problem with the game destroying your saved games. EAmobile made a note on their official Facebook page and apologizes for this inconvience, letting players know that a new update has been submitted to the App Store. After that’s published, a newer update will soon be made available to include a cheat to unlock infinite simoleans, as well as a free World Adventures wear-it set. I wouldn’t expect that update to hit until it’s near the release of The Sims 3 World Adventures for iPhone in early April.
Hey iPhone/iPod touch Sims fans – Here’s the latest on the saved-data issue:
An update will be submitted today that has a solution so this doesn’t happen to any additional users. Then we’re going to release another update ASAP with a special easter egg in the game that allows you to cheat and give yourself more Simoleons so you can buy all the furniture and cars you want. We’re also going to add a free World Adventure-themed “Wear-It” set for everyone to enjoy.
oooooo! sorry ea r u ashamed at:
releasing sims 3 @ beta stage
releasing patches that create probs in sims 3
making no sim city 5
making scs which was a FALIURE
stealing others artwork
charging for cc
and finally releasing patches for i phone/pod that destroy the life of sim fans….
ISNT THAT ENOUGH EA … im angry at u >:[
“releasing sims 3 @ beta stage << No.
releasing patches that create probs in sims 3 << PC? No. iPhone? Maybe
making no sim city 5 << Moving on
making scs which was a FALIURE << Not really
stealing others artwork << Which is EA's copyright
charging for cc << Because some people want quality CC.
and finally releasing patches for i phone/pod that destroy the life of sim fans…. << And they've apologised. Go ahead, make a better one :)"
Connor, we know you’re a blind fanboy and will stick up to EA as you apparently can never say anything bad about them, but in the end you will end up getting effected by one of their screw-ups and it will cause you to open your eyes. But to point out the following on your claims:
Releasing Sims 3 at beta stage – we have no proof of this, but you can’t deny the fact that players had so many issues – folks with computers way beyond the capabilities of playing had problems – the forums were filled with issues, and this wasn’t caused by custom content.
Releasing patches that create problems in Sims 3 – again, this is also true. Patch 1.6 introduced the Error 16 bug, and EA didn’t give us the answer right away, it left many confused and pretty pissed. Not to mention the various other bugs and issues they introduced.
Making no SimCity 5 – agree, we have to move on. But we all would like to see this become a reality by the original Maxis someday.
Making SimCity Societies which was a failure – despite your opinion, it indeed really was a failure and a total bomb for Tilted Mills. The game hit the bargin bin so fast, within a month of its released I saw it for sale for $10. It did awful on sale charts, players hated it and rated it the worst SimCity game ever… The expansion Destinations was released in hopes of milking the European market as thats were the game sold the best. It also bombed. Here in the US it was packaged in The SimCity Box because combining it with SimCity 4 and Rush Hour was the only reasonable way they could get it to sale.
Stealing others artwork – we could argue on this all day. Regardless of the copyright issue, it was wrong of a professional artist who makes a salary of over $60,000 a year to take someone else’s creation and market it off as their own. That was a piss-poor decision on whoever decided to use it. It’s their job to create graphics of their own, hence why they get paid.
Charging for Custom Content – I agree with you on that point, but give or take not all of the content is of high quality. You can find some incredible content that fans made which surpass the quality of EA’s but it’s hard to find if you are not sure what you are looking for. Not to mention select pieces from the EA Store did come with flaws – I can remember one of their hair pieces causing issues.
iPhone/iPod Sims 3 Patch – while yes, they apologized…This goes to prove that they did NOT test their patch before release, otherwise they would have caught this bug. This isn’t a problem where only a select few are getting it, everyone who updates has their saved game data wiped. In the world of gaming, this is NOT a good way to get on the fan’s side.
EA is just a money eater and after ranting about i am just as fine and forgive them because forgiveness is the best policy….. lol 🙂
but im REALLY serious about SIMCITY 5
Jud, I understand your points too but don’t accuse me of “fanboyish” but I don’t really see much problems with EA. Everyone, including yourself, give them a hard time over everything. I’ve never said anything bad about them because they have never done anything wrong to me, so i’m not going to write negative points when they haven’t got anything bad to present to me.So in response to your points:
Releasing Sims 3 at beta stage – I understand some people’s problems. But what I hate about this is that people who have mods and CC installed are blind themselves about why their problems might be happening. People are blaming EA for the effects unauthorized mods are placing on their game. That makes me fell stronger in EA’s defense: because people are modding their game and the like and then blaming EA. Okay, there were other problems which I sympthasie with, but some people should give them a break for what they don’t cause.
Making SimCity 5 – We have moved on from SimCity really and tbh, people commenting and saying “we want SC5” isn’t going to do much. Games have evolved and in my opinion, i’d rather Maxis work on continuing The Sims and Spore.
Stealing other’s artwork – I understand that yeah, EA made a MISTAKE. We do it quite a lot in our own lives. But what makes me have absolutely NO sympthay for Alex is that he copies of other people too. If someone copies him, he’s spamming people trying to look for people to go “aww” or get angry in turn with EA. Yet, when someone accuses him and shows proof of his own copying, he ignores them or makes some excuse. He’s done this to SimOperations and that’s why I have no sympathy or care for him.
Charing for CC – *sigh* Thanks for agreeing with me. It’s a simple rule in life. If say, you don’t like your supermarket. You don’t spent most of your free time (and i’m not saying this about you Jud :P), complaining and spamming people about it. You just don’t use it. Again, in my opinion this is a great idea because we can choose what content we use in our games rather than just being stuck with something useless. Rather than getting a load of objects or hairs or clothing which I wouldn’t use, I can pick ones I do like from the store. Does anyone complain about stuff packs? No. Yet the store is very much like stuff packs, just online. If you don’t like the store, just don’t use it. Simple.
iPhone The Sims 3 patch – I agree with you on that.
In conclusion, i’m not a “fanboy” but imo, EA has done nothing wrong or to upset me. I’m not just going to go on commenting about something which aren’t my views.
Maybe everyone should be a bit kinder, tbh. Rather than just thinking thier opinions are right all the time, think about the opinions of some other people. imo, EA are a great company making great games and there’s no evidence in my life to change that view.
Everyone should open their own eyes to the world and recognise the billions of people out there who each have different views. If you respect my views, i’ll respect yours.
/end
I do respect your views, and I wish I could be more grateful to EA much like you are. I used to be, but like I said ever since the current CEO took place, so many things to a turn to the negative. I’m hoping that one day he’ll get the boot and they’ll put someone better than Riccitiello in place and will hopefully turn over a new leaf in EA to focus on better customer service, better games and of course, actually make a profit.
PEACE …… lol 😀
Okay, I respect your views. But when there’s nothing to make me feel bad about a company, i’m not going to complain about them. I don’t “need” to feel a way about them. If they do something I don’t like, i’ll comment appropriately.
majority of the people are fed up with EA.
I’m not fed up with them. I use to be until I read that Maxis WANTED to be acquired because they were about to go bankrupt. In fact, you have EA to thanks for The Sims franchise period because that game came after Maxis was acquired. As for SimCity… it just didn’t fair as well is all. At least the franchise continues on mobile devices such as the iPhone – so its not a total loss.
I’m not mad with the decisions EA made in the past. I thought they were pretty good back in the days and I thank them for saving Maxis. It’s the decisions in 2007 forward when EA CEO John Riccitiello came forth that gives me my hatred for them now.
