As EA’s shake up of their branding continues, following recent changes of Origin Access to EA Access & EA Access Pro, it seems like Origin won’t be too far behind.
The application on PC & Mac will be re-built from the ground up with a complete fresh lick of paint and will supposedly make it easier to access your games and connect with friends across platforms.
Today, we’re thrilled to offer you an early look at the all-new EA Desktop app, our built-from-scratch PC platform for EA players, games, and content. It brings you a faster experience, fewer clicks to jump back into your favorite games, and powerful Playtime Controls to help you keep tabs on how much time you and your family spend playing. We’re making it faster and easier to find and install new content, whether you’re buying games or playing through your EA Play membership. We’re also rolling out new benefits to give our EA Play* and EA Play Pro members even more from the games they love. And it all comes in the sleek dark-mode interface you’ve been asking for.
What is the new catchy rebrand that Origin shall be given? Now that EA are no longer trying to position it as a competitor to Steam, it will simply be the “EA Desktop App”. So not the most memorable or groundbreaking naming choice.
I will admit though, the design looks quite slick and hopefully this means only good things for PC & Mac gamers. If you want to sign up for the beta, you can learn more here.
