Update #2: Post has been updated once again to include expansion packs

With recent speculation in the community with regards to how well particular stuff packs and game packs have been received and how popular they are, Lyndsay Pearson, GM of The Sims, took to Twitter this afternoon.

She has shared a list of Sims 4 Stuff, Game and Expansion Packs to measure their popularity in terms of how many people played them within their first year of release. The list may surprise you…

Stuff Packs

  • Least popular: Spooky Stuff
  • Fitness Stuff
  • Romantic Garden Stuff
  • Backyard Stuff
  • Kids Room Stuff
  • Luxury Party Stuff
  • Cool Kitchen Stuff
  • Movie Hangout Stuff
  • Bowling Night Stuff
  • Toddler Stuff
  • My First Pet Stuff
  • Perfect Patio Stuff
  • Vintage Glamour Stuff
  • Most popular: Laundry Day Stuff

Game Packs

  • Least Popular: StrangerVille (only been out for a few weeks so unfair to include in list)
  • Spa Day
  • Outdoor Retreat
  • Jungle Adventure
  • Dine Out
  • Vampires
  • Most Popular: Parenthood

Expansion Packs

  • Least Popular: Get Together
  • Get Famous (hasn’t been out for a full year until Nov 2019)
  • Get to Work
  • Seasons (hasn’t been out for a full year until June 2019)
  • City Living
  • Most Popular: Cats and Dogs

I am very surprised to see that My First Pet Stuff has been one of the most played stuff packs, considering that it was not too well received in the community for requiring The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs to get the most out of it. But I am pleasantly surprised to see Laundry Day Stuff at number one, as this was the stuff pack that was created with the input of the community, so was presumably a pack that most people wanted.

It’s also interesting to see that Spa Day seems to be the least popular game pack, when I thought it would be higher ranking. I guess it’s hard to tell with things like this!

And finally, the expansion packs list are hard to judge. Cats and Dogs is always going to be popular, so I can see why that is number one, but I am surprised to see Get Together as the last one as it was a fun expansion, despite being a bit hard to describe what it always brings to the game.

What are your thoughts on the rankings that Lyndsay has shared?
