BlackEssence has posted a vlog on her YouTube channel about how people are reacting to The Sims 4. It’s definitely worth the watch, especially if you have mixed thoughts about the graphics (which I personally love).

Good review on this early version of TS4. I am not one of those players who started playing The Sims 1. I am a later simmer starting Dec 2007 with The Sims 2. For myself, I’m not worried about the graphics at this stage since everyone’s saying it’s pre-alpha. As a beta tester for a lot of MMO’s, graphics is never an issue for me – the more important thing to me as a player is gameplay and content. As of this time, I’m not sure if I’m jumping from TS3 to TS4, but I’m waiting until more information comes out before I decide. Overall, I’m liking what I see so far. The dealbreaker for me is if EA decides not to include CASt in the base game. Otherwise, we’re good!!
Don’t completely agree with her on all things, but nevermind. Some people are just into graphics and love to play games with super awesome graphics. At first I wasn’t really into the things we saw, but after the Gamescom thing and the gameplay trailers it doesn’t look that bad at all.
Second: release date. She said that March 25th is unlikely, which I disagree with. EA said in the past indeed that the game will be released in the first quarter of 2014, which means: January, February, March. (year has 12 months, so a quarter is 3 months..)
And she also did not really mention that the initial release of The Sims 3 was planned for February, but got delayed till June. So yes, I think March is accurate.
I agree with her about people using graphics as the make or break point. Personally, I like to use minecraft as an example of this. The graphics aren’t realistic, but not ugly either. It’s just simple. It’s the gameplay that has attracted such a huge fanbase. That’s how I feel about the sims. Gameplay is more important than graphics.
Of course that’s my own opinion.
