Ok, totally understand your point. I think there may be something that needs to be cleared – when I say (and I speak for myself on this) that I have a dislike of social media being inside the game, that’s what I meant. When I’m inside the game, I really dont want to be bothered with Facebook/Twitter. Nope, I’d rather focus on playing the game. So what they’re doing with implementing achievements and whatnot, telling your friends you did this and that, I’m not really a fan of that.
However, when I’m on the internet, my Facebook is left open in a tab. I use it to keep track of tons of social media – the updates of this site when I’m at work, various sites I like in which I don’t have to go to their website and read the whole site – just articles of my interests, forums, art…etc.
I hope that kind of makes sense…more than likely not š
I too question this, why? Social Media was one of the things I barely focused on (even though I’m always on Facebook/Twitter), so I applaud the guys getting the word out there for those that do happen to use Facebook/Twitter constantly š
Ok…um, well lemme see. It seems like everything is on facebook/twitter anymore. it is so trendy, it’s redundant. Part of the reason alot of players are giving up on the sims franchise since they forced social media on players. and then a site whose contributors openly opposed social media in-game, are using it to promote simprograms even though you already have a website???? am I close, youngoldprude??? oh yeah” interesting tidbit, did anyone know EA bought Maxis all the way back in 1997 before the sims ever came out??? and will wright began conceiving the idea of the sims way back in 1993?
Please also understand that when I loaded up SimPrograms today, my first impression was that I had been misdirected to TheSims3.com or some other form of an EA website.
What initially drew me to SimPrograms years ago was the lack of social media focus. I understand that SP is under new management now, but these āmodernizationsā seem to have swept in awfully quickly. Whatās the next step? Extra ad slots? If a SimGuru so much as sneezes and reports it to THEIR twitter, are we going to be informed about it? How deep does the rabbit hole go?
to Jud: oddly, it does and doesn’t. I see it is a tool from your pov. From my pov, it’s a giant pain in the backside that seems to be taking over the world till the next big thing comes along….unless doomdays theorists are right and the world ends in Dec….Then the point is completely moot.
The “end of the world” bit was a joke. my humor is ambiguously grey to dark, and doesn’t translate into txt easily sometimes… and I guess the perplexing oxymoron here is, why have a website if you have a facebook page too….

SimPrograms has had both a Facebook page and twitter long before I and Dan/Sp0n1Player came along. SP is NOT anti-social networks, we’re anti-social features in one player games. Such as The Sims and SimCity franchises. We just wanted to bring awareness to those followers and others that do constantly use social media that we have a page and profile. If you do NOT like the site, you can LEAVE and find another site to follow, perhaps SimsVIP or The Sims Hub. Ciao!
Woah, tbs….that is alot of attitude being slung there. it is overkill in defense of your innovation, that is great to bring attention to it, but don’t crawl down someone’s throat just because they don’t like the idea. Sims vip is already a fluffy site, anything EA does is awesome there, without question…and they report more things in reguards to sims social…not sims/sim city. Sites, like this and that inherently take on the flavor of the people running them, I don’t like sim Vip’s flavor. and Prude did raise a decent point, how far will new innovations go? Like all things, were will it end? it’s merely a question, not begging to get their head handed to them. Breathe, man, breath!
besides, I’m almost to the point of alot of players…I check here to see if anything good is going on, or an interesting discussion, but on the whole, I’m convinced the new sims team can’t hold a candle to previous creative genius. as I must resend (take back) my remark about EA ruining Maxis after they bought the sims….They owned Maxis since 1997. sooo, consider me heeled on that…

Add 10 years to that date and that’s when it really started to go downhill. 2007 is when they hired John R as CEO and he is to blame for the crap that is. That’s when the Maxis we knew and loved was broken apart. Hello Sims Team, goodbye Maxis as a company. was hoping that when uh Rod Humble left they would listen to us more often again. He left we were all happy because no more RPG Sims crap, but now Social features. Ones that always want you to enable when you start your game, even when you select “DO NOT ASK AGAIN”. And don’t worry, we’re not gonna become full of fluff. Nor are we gonna buy members. So let’s all calm down.

This is why I left this site months ago. Your attitude. Such a bad personality towards people I would assume you want to keep as readers.
And Jessie James, simvip is not fluffy, they just dont try to ruin for everyone what they may not like. I have to agree about the sims social crap though.
I dont need someone who is supposed to be a Fansite bitching and moaning in every post. There are still many of us who like the game, and we dont need to be criticized because of it.
Fiona, I didn’t see fans getting critized. if you like sims vip, fine. I don’t. and Frankly fans can’t afford to be picky where they get their news…Have you seen all the new/fan sites closing these past 3 yrs. I’m glad you like it, but statistically the game is flawed or it wouldn’t have a dwindling fanbase…and EA’s profits would be better…and Nexon wouldn’t be considering buying out EA….
Hey Guys.
The reason why we made this post was to make more people aware, who use Social Networks, about our pages.
We have always had a page on Facebook and a Twitter – for a very long time – and we simply want to get the word out that they exist and to follow them for news to appear in your feeds and we also post on there occasionally too – as we always have done (more on Twitter than FB).
SimPrograms isnt that different, it’s not because Jud has left and it’s under new management, it was like ths before he stepped down also. š
Now I’m starting to get creeped out.
“Am I close, YoungOldPrude?”
Yep. You hit the nail on the head, Jesse James.
