EA/The Sims Team has just released a new patch for Mac users of The Sims 3. This new patch addresses issues that Lion users were having with Nvidia GeForce 9400M and 320M graphics cards, this caused their game to crash. You can download this update via the Launcher.

Update!
It has been brought to my attention that there is a problem with this patch. Several Simmers are reporting that the patch is broken and will NOT install. If you have the Mac version and have tried to install this patch, let us know if it failed or worked.
Failed. It said that I’d modified the base game file. Here’s the relevant logfile:

I use hardly any CC and totally disabled my mods by removing the folder entirely from my Sims 3 directory. I use Snow Leopard on a really nicely tricked-out desktop Mac.
Yep, it works. No complications over here.
Cool and thanks for letting us know! You rock!
No Problem!
My question is what took EA so long, it has been over a month since Lion was released and there are people on the official forums really pissed, what can EA not afford a $99 dollar a year Mac development fee, shame on you EA!
Just tried to install the new patch…a “few” times now!…no luck…won’t install. Thanks for the “head’s up”

@Riley, to be fair, this isn’t the only app/game that has problems on OS X Lion. And while yes, it did take them some time to fix it, there are still apps out there that don’t work on Lion.
What I’d be pissed about is the fact that people (including me) have problems with installing the patch.
Doesn’t work, i tried to update and it gave me issues…kept saying to re-install the sims 3 🙁 (and i have 4 times)
Does not work for me. gets about midway through downloading then just stops. =(
