German fansite Simway brought a few new details to the table from a presentation held Tuesday on The Sims 3 Generations. Instead of a crappy translation from Google, I tried to decipher my take of what was said:
- Imaginary sims see their sim-friend while they are a puppet and an actual imaginary sim.
- Imaginary sims appear to have their own color
- Only sims with imaginary friends can see them. Switch to a different sim and the imaginary sim becomes invisible
- Imaginary sims can be transformed into real sims, while being an imaginary sim, almost all interactions can be carried out.
- New community playground – many recreational items for kids which includes a slide, climbing tower, sandbox, seesaw, swing and hopscotch field.
- Strollers are fully useable and you can transport young sims from point A to point B
- Treehouses make an appearance! Children can play and interact with sims below by pouring water on them, as well as struggle against pirates.
- New object – Bunk Beds. There are bunk beds with 1 or two beds. With 1 bed, you can place objects underneath them like sofas or desks. With both beds, they can be used by up to two sims.
- With pranks, neighbors can call the police if young sims play pranks on them. Parents can punish them.
- Sims can manipulate sinks and water will squirt in others sims face.
- There is a water ride for the Sims. It can be used by the whole family and pool is not required (I’m not 100% sure of this translation)
- Sims can tell scary stories and some may have nightmares.
- Wedding Arch object returns – Sims can cut the wedding cake together.
- Dating returns to the game.
- With the video camera, sims can make videos of themselves and watch them on their tvs.

The water ride appears to be the slip’n’slide that is seen in videos.

Ah the slip n slide. That’s right. Man, I hated those as a kid. I was always the fat overweight kid that when I ran onto the slip-n-slide, I ended up going past the end and onto the grass :/

All imaginary friends look the same with the puppet/.robotic appearance, but can be different colors.

This translates so:

Deshong04 is right about the meaning of the german sentence about the imaginary friend: all imaginary friends look the same, a mix of a puppet and a robot, but they can have different colors.

I would think and hope we are getting a new Town dedicated to this wonderful Theme. By now I would have thought the name of a new Town would have been let out of the bag…..I really hope that all the Ambitions Jobs and Professions Buildings are placed into the Town. It takes quite a while to get a Town ready before you begin playing now. Also with all the “Fairy type Furnishings CAs enables us to make pointed ears..
If they all look the same, just different colors, then what is the point? They’re all the same.
And WHY did they neglect to add dating to Late Night? Oh, yeah—because dating would be distracting against the whole dance-clubs-lounges-dive-bars-go-out-at-night-and-socialize-scene. It would NEVER have fit in! Just like weather would be distracting in Generations, because, as everyone knows, children simply NEVER include weather in their imaginings. Weather is just SO passé and tedious.

i think what they meant was, an NPC that can be directed to do stuff like a puppet.
seems as if babies and toddlers are once again almost exclusively left out. what a joke generations is (and sims 3 in general) when it seriously neglects 2 of the sim life stages. we get a stroller – but what about more interactions. even sims 2 had much more interactions with the babies and toddlers. seems like generations is mostly being focused on and expanding the teen life stage, whereas a huge number of real life sims fans aren’t just teens.
aside from the stroller object and the video camera, this ep is shaking up to be a huge dud. just like night life. very pretty city – but all flash and no substance. let’s hope generations has more to it than what has been mentioned. seriously what a let down, so far that is.
this company is producing suckier and suckier games each and every time. the sims medieval got boring after 3 days of gameplay, so i got rid of it a few days after purchasing. late night was boring after a week. if it hadn’t included the stunning city, i would have never played it again. as it is, i guess i can just look at the sims and maybe build but not play. what’s the point – there’s such little to do with sims 3. ep’s are seriously lacking and i have every one of them plus the ridiculous stuff packs. keep waiting for it to improve. we’ll see…

Imaginary friend sounds really cool to me. I think the appearance of them, is more of Ventriloquist Dummy or something like that. It comes with different colors, which is really neat. Will they remain the same appearance after transformed into Real Sim? Will they have traits as well? I believe so.
I don’t think a pool is required for slip n slide, but maybe sprinklers or something like that.
I am so glad there are finally some nice items for children, and also for dating to be back again. Hope there are photo-both, slowing dance, new interactions, etc. Can’t wait!
Overall there are some nice new features to this ep but honestly its not that much. They put much weight on that camerafeature which I (and probably a lot of others) will never use again after 1 time use. A few new objects, a few new interactions and a new career… thats pretty much it.
One thing that I am really happy about is the *ahem* new memory system. People without memories are empty shells as are my simmies. They never should have taken it out in the first place. The concept of getting more out of familylife is actually really good, but I hoped there would be more to it. But, like every other sims addict I’ll be a good little girl and buy the ep.. hopefully it’ll be better than I expect it will be.
And don’t call me a hater, I’m just a little dissapointed.
I think that this ep will improve the overall GAMEPLAY where as the others only helped with build mode/buy mode and gave you prettier surroundings.
