Wow! We’re finally getting Pets for The Sims 3! Coming October 2011 to consoles, your Sims can finally have the company of dogs, cats, horses, deers and more! It even appears to be the 5th expansion pack (it says WIN/MAC at the end, so it will be an expansion as well)! Watch the video below!

While I do want pets, I’m disappointed once again because since this will be EP5, that means, assuming we get weather in EP6, we won’t see it for a year since it would have a Spring 2012 release. The game just doesn’t feel complete without weather, so I was hoping it would be one of the first few packs.
Jud, are you sure it’s EP5 and not a spin-off? It seems right now to fit “spin-off” pretty well, although I hope like heck it’s actually EP5.

Two cool EPs were just announced that are going to enhance the game in droves and you can’t even find one smidgeon of joy from that? Honestly?

Well with the precise camera angles that they use it would only make sense that they use the PC version. The console is a look a like so they want you to think it’s made on the console but the obvious camera movement tells us it’s not.

“The Sims: Unleashed” is listed on the ESRB website for Mac and PC. So does the absence of the “3” mean that it’s a standalone game like Sims Medieval?

The Sims: Unleashed was the ‘pets’ expansion for the original Sims games. So I am assuming the rating on the ESRB website is referring to the previous expansion, not as a standalone game like Medival.

It has to be real, Generations seems to good rendering and editing to be an outside job, and this seems again to good to be fake, but I do believe Unleashed is a console version. Another question is how did Jud get this info?
Confusement. If these are both coming this year, then it’ll mean the release dates will be something like this:
June/July – Generations
October – Unleashed
Of course, there’s one thing missing: a SP. So we should be getting the 4th Stuff Pack in September as expected.
That sim on the horse looks weird, like it was added in when they made the video instead of in the game itself.
I know it says PC/Mac at the end of the video, but just suppose that Unleashed is NOT released as an expansion pack. It is is quite possible that this could be a stand-alone game that is also being released for the PC/Mac, just like Sims Medieval. I hope this is NOT the case, because I want pets (and weather). But don’t jump to conclusions yet. It would be foolish of EA to release this as a standalone PC game rather than an expansion, but we all know this isn’t the first time that EA has done something foolish.
That would be a pointless waste of money. The developing team can’t afford to just keep making spin offs.
@Thomas, the wii trailer was made also using the computer, just not the pc version of the game. The PS3 and 360 versions were just the base game moved over. They didn’t create anything new for the game. If they did create pets it’s probably again, ported from the PC/Mac version.

It says in this trailer that it’s The Sims 3: Unleashed!!! If this was a standalone game it would simply say The Sims: Unleashed, just as in The Sims: Medieval!!!!!!! So don’t worry, this is certainly going to be a pc expansion pack!!!! The graphic is probably bad because it’s not finished, and all the sims look weird because the trailer focuses on the pets (at least that’s my opinion)!!!!!

No it wouldn’t. The Sims 2: Pets had exactly the same name for console as well as the expansion for PC. It wasn’t called The Sims: Pets. Adding loads of exclamation marks doesn’t make it a fact.
Also, calling it “The Sims: Unleashed” would immediately make those of us who have been playing the game since 2000 think of the Unleashed EP for the first game.

Another thing is this might have been made to show how far they are with the expansion at a meeting. i say thing because the song used in the trailer is not new. it’s from Ambitions. it’s ironically called Animals by Neon Trees. Quit arguing and just be happy that both console and PC/Mac are getting pets and annoying raccoons.

this trailer was shown at a sims 3 event where they showed the up and coming games they were going to make. This is a first draft of what the game will be- that is why the animals look bad and especially why the horse does- because they have never made a horse before. The Ep will have new hair and clothes and a new neighbourhood. the reason none of that is in this trailer is because they’re only doing the pets for show. Nearer the time they will show a new trailer with all the hair and clothes and better pets. october is a long way away.

In developing games, it’s more important to make the meshes, animations, and coding correct before making detailed textures. For all we know in the next 7 months the graphics will improve. If not, oh well, it’d be silly not to by it because the graphics aren’t cutting edge. The Sims has always been about creating virtual lives, not graphics. If you want graphics go play Crysis.
Third: How about you wait for the damn game to come out before complaining? At the very least wait until an OFFICIAL trailer nearer the release. You assume your unconstructive criticism is going to help, but all it’s going to do is distance developers from their audience. If you provide well thought out and written critiques, you’ll be taken more seriously. Saying, “these grafics sux herpaderp” is simply a waste of bandwidth.

I’ll admit, pets were pretty boring in Sims 2 because they didn’t do much, but with being able to actually go out on walks with your sims sounds great! No, there will be CAP (create a pet) I’m assuming. There will be no reason they would take that out from Sims 2. CAP had breeds already created, as well as tools to modify them yourself.
As other people said, yes this IS for PC. This is only a test trailer to demonstrate how the pets will work/interact with the environment. That’s why you don’t see them interacting with much Sims. In the future, they will improve the graphics. Keep in mind, October is a long way away.

I’m sooo excited. I’m buying this game for sure. I really love having pets around. I also love the fact that they have more than household pets in this game. I really hope it’s not just for console. I only like to play on my PC, better graphics.
Hopefully, EA will fix the issues that the previous two “pets” Sim games expansions had. Hopefully they will make the pets smarter than before & even more so, CONTROLLABLE!
The Sims has a lot of good games, I think that thanks to the trait system, instead of an personality points like The Sims 2, there will be special traits just for that animals.
The game MUST have an breeding system that actually has a good genetics and must have an family tree.
They must have weather since some consoles games have and they must make an sort of partial control of pets since in The Sims 1 and 2 we can’t even tell the dog to eat.

I kind of dissapointed, although I do realize that they still might add or change some things. I have been hoping that they might add rabbits to the pets expansion pack because that is something that I have really wanted. Because there is so much time before it comes out that I’m sure that they might add more and maybe they might not showcase all of the pets in one video, but eitherway it surprises me that they would showcase fish, which everyone can already have since they came with the base game, and not fit a rabbit in there somewhere. Also, the snake looks really cool, and the fat cat looks adorable. I am wondering how they are going to do this…are we going to be able to make our own dogs and cats like in TS2? Will we be able to make our own fish or snakes? It will be very interesting to see.

Well, all the fans definitely got what they asked for. It is the most requested expansion pack for the sims to date, that and seasons, and yet EA just had to break down and give it to them. I have heard everywhere all the time for months to years about how EA only wants to make money (duh, they are a business people), and they don’t want to listen to people. Well, this is hard to believe considering I wasn’t that big of a fan on them coming out with more pets. You want pets, thats why there is a sims 2 pets. Anyhow, EA still bent over backwards and gave all of the people wanting pets AGAIN, pets … AGAIN. There is so much more EA can do with the sims, and are probably wanting to do, but yet people get on forums and on anything that has the names SIMS on it and demand these games and then complain along with the demand that EA doesn’t listen and blah, blah, blah. So, now hopefully EA has restored everyones faith and can get on not REPLICATING games already made just to appease people and get on with making NEW CONCEPTUAL games tha have not already been produced. -facepalms-
Oh and one other thing, EA also listened to everyone requesting and DEMANDING a medieval game. So, again, can I please get everyone to read this and think a moment what YOU yourself may have ever complained about and said negatively about EA as a whole in reflection of them not ever listening to their consumers and maybe come to the conclusion … that hey .. they are listening to you, and they are doing more for you than many other businesses out there and bending over backwards for what you want and ask for. Seems to me EA is not what everyone has been saying about them, and seems to me they should be commended for a long time for this. Now, can we go back to letting them be the good COMPANY they have ALWAYS been, and let them come out with some new things for the sims ? Thank you, no wait … no thanks to you, thanks should go out to EA you gave the consumers what they wanted. -full standing ovational applause-

Well this looks exciting. Though I do hope that none of those posting on this site are intending to go into any type of career which involves using words. Just a tip, but if you want your ideas to be heard, perhaps you should present them in such a way that they may be understood by those of us who are sane. (e.g. try using some punctuation once in a while)

I have 3 things to say to this. First, no one has said this game is coming out for anything yet. Second, if the game does is indeed real, explain why the PC/MAC logo is on the video if it isnt coming to PC. And third, if your father really worked for EA (which I doubt he does), then he would be in very big trouble for leaking info about an upcoming release that EA probably really wants to keep under wraps a little while longer. So that young alex would be three strikes and a fail for you.
Don’t try to bring the sims 3 fans down, Unleashed IS an expansion pack, and will be coming to PC as well. It’s just like the sims 2 pets, that was an expansion pack but also a game for PS2 and some other consoles.
Please don’t believe everything you’re being told 🙂 This sure is coming, and will be published in October.

Hurray! I’m so excited for a pets expansion. This is the only expansion I’ve wanted, besides a Makin’ Magic expansion to bring back the baby Dragons from Sims 1, for the Sims 3. I can’t wait! I hope the pets will be more variable than shown in the video though. I want to make my real life Chinese Cresteds, and Miniature Bull Terriers, and other mixies. <3 I hope there will be more ways to customize the pets than in the Sims 2 Pets. And more ways to get cool mixies out of breeding! Hope there is Brindle and Merle markings as well! =D And more fun ways to interact with the pets. ^__^

People want pets because pets are a part of life, and to many people, their pets are like family members. Having Sims without pets would be like having Sims without being able to have babies or without jobs. Of course people want pets–since when does buying the upgraded version of a game mean you lose a huge portion of it?
Maybe some people complained too much about, but don’t get your panties in a twist just because EA Games made an expansion they made before because everyone wanted it. If they didn’t cater to what the players want, then we’d still all be playing the first Sims with no expansions

And YAY PETS! I don’t think ea is GIVING IN to demand like people say they are here 😛 Pets make sense, they probably had it planned since the beginning. It’s a very requested addition to the game. I think they wanted to do it justice and make it awesome, hence why it’s coming out later rather than sooner. That’s ok though, just make it freaking AWESOME EA!
I think it’s funny that everyone is giving so much credit to EA. All they do is sell it and get mad when there’s not another expansion coming out. The most likely reason that pets is being made is that they know how popular it will be because popularity=sales=money

God I hope this is better than the other pet stuff they’ve done. I really loathed someone elses animal coming onto my lot and peeing everywhere. And the ones for the Sims 2 was really rubbish.

If this game does come out I think that it would satisfy a lot of peoples cravings for a sims pets game. However, I still believe that the Sims 3 should have already had all the features from the expansions in Sims 1 and 2 and then built on it completely. I was disappointed that they did not automatically include pets in the Sims 3 game generally.

People, I just want you to know that this is fake. It will eventually come out, but not under this name (which has already been used in the The Sims 1 expansion pack for pets) and it will be waaay later than october. Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) says it is fake.

Except Sims 2: Pets, was pretty much just an expansion for the PC. Yes, it had console releases, but aside from new parks and shops for the pets, I’m pretty sure you visited all the same places and had most of the same quests (aside from the new pet ones) that you did in the original Sims 2 games.
It was a nice expansion to the game, but it was still just an expansion nonetheless.
I’m sure this game is going to be the same story.
