The expansion packs that have been released so far for The Sims 3 have been meatier than expansions from the previous iterations of the franchise, and Night Life continues the tradition. It really raises the bar for what we expect out of a Sims expansion, and even though this one is coming only four months after the last one (instead of the usual six to eight months), it really holds its own. Although streamlining some of the new changes could be better, there are easily a dozen hours or more of pure gameplay before you figure out how everything precisely works, and it makes all Sims new and old that much richer in their personal stories.
It’s not all perfect, of course. The fact that many of the new systems absolutely do not integrate into old save files (or at least, not without many hours of work on the player’s part) is a seriously negative design choice that, given the history of how the franchise has often linked new content with old, is inexcusable. Luckily, with some work and the fantastic community Sims fans have created, it won’t be long before you can at least find the new lots to place in your old neighborhoods, though you will still be making due with a slightly lessened experience. Overall, Night Life is yet another quality expansion for Sims 3 fans everywhere , provided you are willing to start over to experience it all.
Well, in their defense, they do have similar names.
Hang on, so your Sims in Sunset Valley can’t visit the new Late Night City?! And. you can’t easily put all the new features in Sunset Valley?!
Well that’s stupid! What a step backwards!
I have a custom made city that I play with hundreds of Sim families, I am not going to want to create lods more just to be able to play the new Late Night features!
They could visit other cities (countries) in World Adventures and even back in The sims 2 so why not now?!!
If this is right then this will be the final straw for me and I will be abandoning The Sims franchise once and for all!!
Night Life! It’s clearly called “Late Night”. IGN idiots.
Haha, with this being the third nightlife-themed expansion in the series’ history I guess it might be tricky to not get muddled. Having said that, these people are meant to be professionals so this isn’t really a viable excuse. xD
I’m pretty troubled by the idea that the ‘new systems don’t integrate into old save files’, since even though I’m skipping this pack I hope that’s not going to become a default design choice as this series moves forward in other packs. Hmm… again though, if they can’t even get the name right ought I really believe this? 😛
love it
I think EA is getting so much better. As a personal simmer I am upset about some main issuse (already adressed) but easily mods can be placed and as lone as I have my back up drive and files i’m fine. I am so glad about the whole vampire/celebrity/famous/bar/new item thing they’ve got going now. 🙂 SIMMER FIR LIFE!
