Barnacle Bay (town) coming Fall 2010 at The Sims 3 Store

BeyondSims BeyondSims Author

EA sent out a press release statement as well as 3 screens of their latest town that will be offered at The Sims 3 Store in the Fall. Featuring all new homes, clothes, sims, objects – it’s practically a mini-expansion!  I just don’t hope it costs as much as one, because we will have to purchase it via SimPoints.  Thanks to The Sims Hub for the full press release.

Update #2 – IGN reports the actual price is 1650 simpoints ($16.50) and will be released September 23.

Update – BricaSims reports through French site Zone Jeu that the world will cost 600 Simpoints.  Can’t say this is for certain, but it’s what they were told.

no way am i paying $30-$40 just for another town with extra clothes. no freakin’ way man.

if its not coming out as a hard copy, how could they possibly justify making us pay the same for a disc?
i think it will depend on the price and what it includes to determine whether or not i’ll get it, but i’m definitely not going to forget. i’m just also saving up for LN, so we’ll see how that goes.
i think it’d be dumb of them to offer up both of those at the same price…competitive on their own games, right?

I wonder…How much is this actuelly going to cost? If a bike costs 400pts…then what will a neighborhood cost? 10000pts?!

    It honestly wouldnt surprise me…

To be perfectly honest, I think this should be offered in a stuff pack.
Its almost impossible to download and install worlds because of the glitchy store and overheating installer.

I only hope these problems are resolved by the time of release.

Agreeing with the 2 above. Arrgh, Matey is the statement to be made. LOL!

This sucks! All of a sudden something happens to my computer so that i can’t download from the store and they make something awesome.

LMAO. That really doesn’t even look that good. I’ve seen million times better custom worlds for free.

I suppose it looks kinda cool?? But I’m not spending points on it until I really want it, since I dont really care for pirate-themed things.

Im just gonna play Bridgeport when I buy Late-Night instead!

Id be willing to drop no more than 20$ on this town

That middle photo looks almost like a flattened-out version of Sunset Valley.

I was really excited when I saw a new neighbourhood being released… until I realised we had to pay for it. I only have 65 Simpoints and I refuse to buy any more! I’m not falling for EA’s schemes. They should do what they did with Riverview and make it a free download to anyone who registers a sims game like Late Night or a new stuff pack!

Meh. Most of all this is annoying. I’d love to make a world with the new rabbitholes there. But who’s going to shell out the money for this?

Being too busy to Sim has reminded me that I don’t need to be in EA’s grip. Perhaps it’s time I quit?

Post has been updated – reports are showing that the world will cost 600 Simpoints ($6)

OOOH, I love it! I’ve been dying for a pirate themed world WITHOUT DREADED CC. I will find a way – somehow – to get some Simpoints, as hubby has sworn us off credit cards until the economy stablizes. Wonder if they take depit cards for Simspoints? Anyone know? Don’t tell me pay pal, as those shysters still have money of mine from 7 years ago they won’t give me – I’m surely not giving them more to steal!!!

From the description, I take it it won’t be out until after LN is released. Because I doubt they’d release a new world that includes bars before the EP comes out that introduces bars.

Well, what ever the price will be, I’m probably gonna get it anyway! lol But I remember reading an interview that was of some people who worked on The Sims 3 for console (can’t remember who it was), and they said with one of the console versions you can live on boat houses and said the PC version won’t be getting it…yet! So maybe that person meant it will be in this new town! It’ll fit well I must say and would be awesome! Can’t wait for this new minipack! 😀

@Writin_Reg, Just go to your local walmart and they offer sims cash cards. They cost $10, and you’ll get around 950 simpoints after redeeming them. That is the only way i’ll ever buy simpoints. Hope this helps.

Ok, so the description says, “Barnacle Bay could be your Sims’ new home or a fun holiday spot.” I’m wondering if that means that we can have our sims visit there from Sunset Valley, Riverview, etc.? Anyone know?

  18. Nick Reply

    @ Chris

I would highly doubt that they would add new gameplay as in the ability to allow our Sims to go on a vacation with this download. I couldn’t get your hopes up and say it’s most likely a no.

  19. Chris Reply

    @ Nick

That’s kinda what I thought too but the way it’s described makes it sound like you cna visit there as in a vacation spot or something.

  20. Thomas Reply

Please disregard my comment here, as I’ve changed my opinion completely!! Tisk, tisk EA!!

  21. drake Reply

@Nick, I don’t think that’s quite what they are saying. They are saying, that you can put a family in there, as a “vacation” but it’s up to you if you want to make it their permanent home (or to continue playing the neighborhood) or to pick another one.

  22. Nick Reply

    @ Drake

    Ah, I could see that.

They always twist their words to make things hard to understand haha

  23. bshag Reply

I like it and can hardly wait til it’s released. I have points ready and waiting. I refuse to dl any third party cc so I’m glad to get another town. You never know about other creators and have had major problems in the past from cc. Sad really but only EA generated stuff from now on.

I bought it last night but it wouldn’t download?!

    I’m really frustrated.
