EA introduces ‘My Goodies’ at the Sims Store; decorate your Sims Page

BeyondSims BeyondSims Author

As much as I love EA and The Sims Series…they make a lot of stupid decisions.  This…is just another one.  Sometimes I wonder if they are smokin’ reefer or doing lines of coke, because the things they do make no sense at all.  Apparently they are looking to squeeze a few more bucks from our pockets by introducing My Goodies at The Sims 3 Store.  What exactly are “My Goodies”, you ask?  Well, they are little graphical images used to decorate your Sims page – backgrounds for your avatar, badges and stickers.  They will set you back 10-15 Simpoints for backgrounds (with plain colored ones being free), 10-20 Simpoints for badges (1 being free) and 10-25 Simpoints for stickers (1 being free as well).  I don’t know about you, but I think this is stupid.  Instead of working on a broken game (what happened to the “big patch” that they promised us?) they’d rather nickel and dime us to death with little graphics.  Stupid…just stupid…

Thanks to Sims 3 Nieuws for the tip!

Fail is all I can say, those at EA are just looking for money.

Yeah, this is just crazy. The forums and exchange have been terrible for months, and they do this instead? Their PR staff must be awful, or maybe no one bothers to listen to them.

I hope that this isn’t the only update to the store that we’ll see this week. I still have points from HELS that I’d like to spend on some cool items.

Robb, it probably will be the only thing from the store this week. One week from today is the first Thursday of the month, they day we store updates, so you are going to have to wait another week.

Seriously this is ridiculous! I feel sorry to say this, but EA: Listen to what Sims-fans want, and don’t let us pay for trash.

While it is indeed stupid, it’s happening everywhere. A lot of games, websites and other sort of social places are beginning to charge for these types of things. Reason why? People buy them. EA is just taking advantage of that. Don’t like it? Don’t buy it. I know I won’t.

Cjdamon042 is right. We buyers control everything. If no one bought stupid crap like that, they wouldn’t put it up in the first place.

We should all just stop giving in to crap like this so we can get better crap!

EA have hit a new low :(.
This is beyond a joke now I’m afraid.

No, EA haven’t done anything wrong. Are they forcing you to buy this stuff? No! So quit crying about it and show some respect to players who might benefit from this kind of stuff. It’s these comments which make me loose my spirit for the community.

If these were free, they would have been a nice little addition. But charging money for stupid little icons is just too much. Good lawd, EA.

Seriously, HOW IS IT TOO MUCH?!?!?!? EA isn’t forcing you. If you don’t like it, why are you going on and moaning about it. Just needed a new topic of conversation, eh?

  11. Cjdamon042 Reply

Connor, take it easy would you…People are allowed to have opinions. I hate the idea of charging for silly little icons. Anyway, I imagine most people are annoyed at EA because they’re spending time doing things like this. Sure we know they’re working on the game and whatnot, but something like this should be free in my opinion. Remember the avatar creator for TS2’s website? That was far more in-depth yet entirely free.

The thing is, with Zinda’s FREE program, simmers can create any avatar they want, and it is much easier to use that the Llama editor for package thumbnails. So the target audience of My Goodies seems to be those who have zero computer knowledge or are reluctant to download programs from the internet.

If nothing else, I am grateful for those in the community who share their creations for free. I respect EA’s need to make money off the base game and expansions, and I’m grateful for the forums (when they work) that connect us to users who share great tools for free.

In MY opinion, I actually like it. I mean I have some left over SimPoints. I spent mine on 3 things and all I had was 50 points. Like I said this is MY opinion. I respect your opinions about this being a bad.

  14. ConnorJack Reply

I agree with Tyrel. There is nothing wrong with this and EA isn’t forcing you to do anything so please don’t go on and on and on and on about it

  15. Alex Reply

To be fair no one seems to be going on about it, just posting their opinions.

The only person going on and on is ConnorJack. Yes, we hear you, you love the idea!!

But please be a polite and civil individual and let others have their chance to voice their opinions instead of attacking us and telling us to shut up every time someone makes a post. You got your turn, so let us have our turn.

I personally think the idea is extremely stupid. Some may find this useful. Some may even like it. That’s perfectly fine. But EA needs to hear customer feedback on their services, both the compliments and the complaints. This is why most businesses have a comments/complaints box.

That’s my biggest problem. You know, I probably wouldn’t hate the idea that much if EA would focus on customers first – heck, I probably wouldn’t even care about the store. But their whole shtick of having poor customer service, failure to communicate with those in the community, strange and unusual rules and deletion of threads at their forum, poor coding on their product…this should be the last thing on their minds. Now if they had a track record of being awesome and respectful, then by-golly they should charge whatever they please.

I agree with Jud, EA has screwed up lately and they have stickers on the mind???

I think it would have been cool if they added a sort of achievement system like you got a sticker when you reached x amount of downloads or posts

  18. Tyrel Reply

I completely agree with you Jud an Robodl95, I personally like the stuff they just added, but could I would definitly like it more if they improved Customer Service. I mean aren’t we the ones, the consumers, who spent the money and made this game more popular? I’m sorry, but EA , Get your act together! !

They are gonna milk this cow until it runs dry, like any big corp. Better get used to it. Some people here seem to have.
