A portion of a Wall Street Journal article about The Sims 3 that…well isn’t really about The Sims but more about Rod Humble:

In addition to running the Sims studio, Mr. Humble also oversees Electronic Arts’s other properties in the EA Play label such as the Steven Spielberg-produced puzzle franchise Boom Blox. With the announced departure of popular game designer Will Wright, who launched the SimCity and Sims franchises, Mr. Humble is quickly becoming the new creative face for Electronic Arts.

Electronic Arts, the game’s publisher, could use a hit from Mr. Humble and the Sims franchise. Last month, the company reported the latest in a string of quarterly losses and hasn’t posted a profit in more than two years. The Sims, however, has been a consistent earner for the beleaguered Redwood City, Calif.-based company, particularly due to its popularity with women. In the last decade, the franchise has sold more than 40 million copies, according to research firm NPD Group, and EA says more than half of all current Sims players are women.
