Media research company Nielsen released their survey data of the top most played games of 2008. They compiled a list of the top 10 PC games that were often played. Turns out, both The Sims and The Sims 2 were on the list, ranking an average of 213 and 219 minutes per week. I’m surprised they didn’t lump the two together. Are there still that many people who play the original Sims? That game will always have a place in my heart and in my opinion, is the best Sims version. 🙂
1. World of Warcraft (Blizzard)
-671 minutes per week
2. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Activision)

3. Halo: Combat Evolved (Microsoft)

4. The Sims (Electronic Arts)
-213 minutes per week
5. The Sims 2 (Electronic Arts)
– 291 minutes per week
6. RuneScape (Jagex)

7. Diablo II (Blizzard)

It seems if you’re gonna go by time played it’s completely off. Which I’m assuming they’re basing their findings off of since no data on amount of players is shown. But it’s Nielsen so it’s bound to be flawed anyways. It’d be interesting to know how they found this information as well. Nice to see both Sims games on the list even if their placement doesn’t make much sense considering.
And it’s 291 for The Sims 2 not 219 Jud.
