If you’ve been waiting Patch #2 to hit the Mac, today is your lucky day! Maxis has posted a note letting users know if they start their game, they should be prompted to update. You can read the patch notes here.
Mac users, Spore Patch 2 now available!

I logged into Spore and it prompted me to do the update. It downloaded for about 1 minute then said there was an error and didn’t complete the update. I’ve logged in multiple times with the same result and there is not external link to get the update. Am I the only one who’s having this problem?

You’re not the only one having issues…Why can’t they test these things before sending them out in public is beyond me…
