Change SimCity Game Resolution on Mac Devices

You’ve got your nice iMac or MacBook with retina/4K/5K display and you want to enjoy SimCity (2013) and take advantage of the display. You load up the game and find you’re limited to 1440 x 900 resolution and, while the UI is clear, the game visuals are extremely blurry.

This is something we experienced with our MacBook Pro Retina, so we’ve managed to find a solution so that you can run SimCity at any resolution you want.

Please note by changing the resolution may cause performance issues, although it has been fine in our tests.

1. Launch Origin

2. Right click on ‘SimCity’ and click ‘Properties’

3. In the box below ‘Command Line Arguments’, enter the following:

-r RESOLUTION

Replace RESOLUTION with the desired resolution for the game. For example, if you wanted it to be 1920 x 1080, you would type ‘-r 1920×1080’.

That’s it! Your game will now run at the resolution you have defined. Play about with this to see what looks best and gives you optimal performance on your Mac.
