When did you start playing The Sims? What made you want to try it out?
I’ve been playing since the very first Sims base game was released! My best friend and I were really into telling soap-opera style stories and had this whole cast of characters! A lot of their stories and personalities were in our minds and we projected these stories onto Barbie dolls (embarrassing confession moment). So when we saw the box art of The Sims in the local toy shop we instantly knew it was perfect for us! I remember we basically camped out in the toy shop for about a week, staring at the box and imagining which of the sims on the front would be which of our character! I looked at that box so much that I can still recall the images now, 15 years later!
What is your favourite Sims game of all time and why?
It has to be Open for Business for The Sims 2. All my sims had businesses which suited their personalities. I had a foodie-sim who owned a bakery and a restaurant. A fashion-minded sim who made clothes on the Freetime sewing machine and sold them in her clothing store. A criminal who owned a ‘second hand’ electronics store…
I really love the different skill-based crafts we get in the game, so I love to set up shops where my sims can actually sell these items to one another.
Tell us a bit about how you play The Sims. Are you a storyteller, builder, cas-fanatic or something different all together?
I’m a bit of everything! I’m very controlling with my game, I have very clear ideas about how I want everything to be. So when I make a sim, I’m not happy simply moving them into a pre-built house, I have to build them THEIR house, the home I imagine a sim with their personality would have. This has a knock-on effect where I have to make the right community lot for them… and then I find myself revamping the whole world! I loved Create-A-World for TS3 and actually built a British style world specifically for my sims called Crumpleton, it’s on the exchange. 🙂
If you could add one feature to The Sims 4 what would it be?
Only one!?
Has there ever been a moment where something completely unexpected happened in your game? If so, could you tell us more?
Yes! Lots of times! One incident stands out in my mind. My sims rarely ever die: I play with aging off and avoid anything deathly! I even modded out a lot of the randomly occurring deaths (the mods can be found on my blog). One day I was playing with my simself and decided to try out the ‘Philosopher’s Stone’, I didn’t realise it could turn a sim to gold! Ooops! It’s strange but Cinderelli-sim is always the one who gets into all the trouble! Can’t imagine why…
What do you hope the first expansion for The Sims 4 will be?
Open for Business! There are so many nice skill based crafts in the game: woodworking, painting; herbalism; gardening; etc. It would be so nice to be able to set up small businesses for our sims so they can share their crafts with others! I’d love to be able to make flower arrangements with the flowers we can grow.
I’d also love to see a farming expansion. Simmers have been asking for this for years now!
The Sims community is a very unique and friendly community. What is one thing you love about the community surrounding The Sims?
There are some really amazing people in the simming community! My friends are funny, clever, unbelievably kind, quirky, crazy, selfless and incredibly talented! What I love to see is people rallying round someone who is feeling a bit down. I’ve seen so many amazing random acts of kindness!
Is there anything else you’d like to say to our readers? Feel free to say where they can find you on the interweb!
I love to hear about other people’s games, and especially love to see screenshots! If you have something to share, or just need a bit of help, you can always reach me on Twitter @Cinderellimouse!
I also have a blog which I update with admirable inconsistancy, tee hee! You can find my TS3 mods there, along with some random blogs about my game: https://simsinthewoods.wordpress.com/
You’ll probably see me waffling on in the official forums too, where I love to discuss ideas for future sims content!
I love Cinderellimouse’s TS3 mods. And, of course, Crumpleton.
