On the 18th August 2013, BeyondSims will celebrate it’s 13th year anniversary! The site was founded as SimPrograms back in August 2000 by Jud Hudson and has been in operation ever since. I joined the site as a writer in March 2011 and became the owner in November 2012, and rebranded the site to BeyondSims.
This is an exciting milestone and to celebrate we’re going to be doing competitions, giveaways and more over the anniversary weekend! You can see just some of the stuff we’re giving away below!

The anniversary event will begin on Friday the 16th and will continue through until Sunday the 18th. Make sure to keep an eye on our social sites for the updates, and be sure to visit this weekend and join in with the fun!

SimPrograms was a great and informative site often with exclusive information. BeyondSims is just reposts of news that other sites had days before…

Thanks for your comment. We actually had a similar team to back when Jud had the site as SimPrograms, until recently. Over the past few years it’s been myself, Jud and TheBlackScorpion posting. Until recently, TheBlackScorpion was still an author. I am still a part of the site along with the amazing MapleSim (editor), Djerano and guest posters such as BlackEssence. We do actually offer exclusive information before other sites, when we can, such as our SimCity and Island Paradise previews. I appreciate the criticism as it’ll allow me to improve the site – feel free to take our survey too 🙂

None’s sort of right. I used to love Simprograms when Jud was in charge. You got to know all the stuff before anybody else. Now, other sites get in first and if you follow BeyondSims you often don’t hear of things unless you follow SimCity. It didn’t change much when TheBlackScorpion took over, but he became ill. Now, although the site designs are cool, the news is slightly lacking.
I mean no offense to anybody by stating this, but you need to be faster and more up to date with things.
I agree with Arletta and None too, I used to always come here to get the latest news and to download programs, but now the programs are gone and I barely ever come here for news anymore since you are always WAY behind and just leave some important news out all together. I find SimsVIP much better now IMO.

I’m not so concerned whether BeyondSims gets the news first or not. I appreciate the teams efforts, and although I miss the old crew, this site remains the only Sims related source that I keep in my feed.

Wow, 13 years! it seems that the time is going as fast as it is on sims!

Gratulations! It’s an amazing feat to stay online as long as you have. I have seen dozens and dozens of News sites come and go. So to be online for such a long time is truly exeptional.
As for the criticism, people forget that running a news site is extremely time-consuming. You have to litterally spend hours a day searching for news. Checking up on dozens of news sites, forums, official channels, editing and uploading screenshots, make back-ups and all the other technical stuff behind the screens.
Not posting news for a few days doesn’t mean the owner isn’t doing anything but may very well be busy with other, important site matters.

That is very true, there is a lot of behind the scenes work and planning that goes into the site. Being a student aswell means that the site has to come second at times.
