I’m excited about this. Why? Because it’s another sign about the end of TS3 and that 2014 will be the year of The Sims 4 (also the 10th anniversary of TS2)! Although I’m skeptical about the EXP/heart thing from those pics the other day, still excited. w00t!

It remains to be seen however if the Sims 4 will be worth purchasing. It certainly won’t be if they don’t make radical improvements over the Sims 3 (more modding support would be a start) as well as having essentials like weather and university in the base game. No more of this “Just spend another £140 on the latest version of the series!”
I don’t see EA changing their strategy. I’ll be surprised…. honestly and pleasantly surprised, if Sims 4 is a major improvement over the last two and doesn’t nickel and dime people to death.
But I just don’t see that happening. Their stance on SimCity seems to prove they don’t want to make a game that can be easily modded or is complete once released.
At some point, simmers have to draw a line and say “enough is enough”. If they don’t, EA will continue to do this. Personally, I’ve had enough.
BTW, I’m not yet ready for Sims 3 to end. I think they can still do a little more with it. One more year of expansions in 2014, and most everything should be covered in the game.
