Yes, you read that correctly.. and no, I’m not fooling you. Although, I’m not extremely serious on this topic either.
Yes, you may have heard that thesims4.com had been registered way back in June 2010 (or was it 09′?).. well, that’s not all they registered. They also registered the following domains:
- thesims5.com
- thesims6.com
- thesims7.com
- thesims8.com
- thesims9.com
- thesims10.com
And thesims10.com is the last one they registered.. so far?
Thanks to GoDaddy.com, I was able to WHOIS these domains to find out if I was fooling myself.. but in reality I wasn’t. Take a look below!
but..but wait. Do you see this way down at the bottom? : “Created on…………..: Mon, Jun 23, 2003” So, they’ve been planning on this for a while now. I guess it doesn’t come to me as that big a of surprise; it could be just for precautions.. but hey, it’s hope! Oh, and thanks GoDaddy 😉
What do you think about this? Do you actually think the Sims Series will continue on until The Sims 10?
I wish there was a roll eyes smiley for this.
You do know that companies purchase 1000’s of domains to secure their products right? I mean, if in 100 years they decided to do a Sims 10, we won’t be around for it.
Journey,
I’ll be stunned if EA actually releases the Sims 5 and that’s only have way there. I have a hard time imaging what they’ll be able to do to make things better after the next game. The Sims ten will have to be so spectatular that no computer around today, or built within the next twenty five years will be able to run it.
themoreyouknow.jpg 😉
Actually, the did this awhile back 😛 I think during The Sims 2 days – they just secured the domains so nobody else would snatch them up 😛
It’s fairly standard. For example, Nintendo buys up all the different Pokemon names, and site names like “Pokemon [RandomColor]”
damienf519,
I couldn’t agree with you more!.. it’s pretty hard to imagine a Sims 5 even being released, but I posted this simply because of the “What-if” factor. You know? .. We never really know how far this series may go..
Not sure if I’d be playing The Sims 10, but given how far off that would be, maybe my future kids will! lol
I will be dead and gone long before they even get to 6, lol.
You guys do realize they release a sims game approximately every 4-5 years. So let’s say they do continue the franchise ( which is looking unlikely considering how The Sims 3 is panning out.), it would take about 50 years to get to the tenth game. Most of us will still be alive, although elderly.
I am sure this has been reported before.
LMFAO, are you actually kidding me, what are you talking about “which is looking unlikely considering how The Sims 3 is panning out.” Do you honestly think EA care about what us oldies think? as long as people buy their games they will sell them. You might not like it but there are millions of people out there who still love and play The Sims 3 regardless of how good TS1 and TS2 were. Most haven’t ever even played them.
Just because the team is kind of in a slump with the third installment, doesn’t mean we can’t see something phenomenal in a couple years. EA realizes The Sims is really profitable, and instead of putting money into besting their game, they insist on milking more and more money out of customers, AKA the store. We can’t blame the company for something in which the consumer constantly shells out more and more money on. If nobody used the store it would go under, but it obviously has been doing just fine, producing 3 new sets a month, for 3 years now. People who spend their money on that stuff, have no business complaining about the current status of the game. All their doing is supporting EA to continue releasing store exclusive items.
If the quality keeps going down the slope it’s already on, I’m not even sure we’re gonna be seeing a Sims 5. I think the franchise has potential to go on for a very long time, but with their current patching and bug fixing trend I don’t think many players will want to stick around. But if they do continue buying them, maybe the only way it would stop if another company decided to make a better dollhouse simulator which would win over the players. Right now, I don’t see that happening.
Actually I thought u already knew it ‘-‘ we discovered it back in 2008 on Sims 2 BR Community, well, I really hope that until The Sims 10 this game becomes way better, after all they have the time for it 😛 One thing is for sure, I can guarantee you this game will reach if not the 10th, a version close to it, if not by veteran gamers like me, that will be happy on the gaming changing back to the level that it was before The Sims 3 but with new technologies and possibilites, by the bunch of children that buy everything that is pop these days…
So you guys honestly think that with the sims going downhill with every pack, people will buy indefinitely? Don’t get me wrong, some of the EP’s are good, and I’m greatly looking forward to supernatural, but the current team has missed a lot of opportunities to make this game stand out, and EA’s milking of the game is not helping. I give them three years before they just realize it’s not profitable, and they stop producing. I plan on buying the last EP’s for 3, but unless things greatly improve in 4, I’m not continuing. At this point I have Minecraft, Skyrim, etc. to occupy my time. Barely play the sims games anymore.
Yeah, like others, I have seen it before a year ago or so. Sims 4 might be out next year or two because Seasons is rumored, but not confirmed by U.S. to be released this Nov 2012. We will see.
