An interesting find by our very own Dan Spon1Player. It seems the credits have changed with Showtime. Unless this was with Master Suite. Anyone else notice this? EDIT – Our follower André has pointed out that both SimGuruRyan and Graham have mentioned this before. Oops! Turns out that they renamed EA Play/Redwood Shores to Maxis Redwood Shores. So we have Maxis Emeryville and Maxis Redwood Shores, cool eh? Check out the second and third pic for the low down.
The Sims Studio/EA Play = Maxis Redwood Shores (The Sims)
Maxis = Maxis Emeryville (SimCity)
EA Play is now Maxis (Redwood Shores)… http://twitter.com/#!/SimGuruRyan/status/177093000835506176 (SimGuruRyan has confirmed)

I just want to see if this is true in the poll results or if you are manipulating the data.
YAY maxis is back 😀 – i loved maxis which they did make sims 1 – one day EA logo will be replaced with maxis logo
This is just a cheap trick to buy back some consumer confidence amidst all the negative publicity surrounding EA receiving the honour of worst company in America and the long, torturous decline of TS3. The Sims Studio is now once more EA Maxis Redwood Shores, but the same rotten ideas are still boiling over in that HQ of theirs.
Maxis’ logo disappeared from the launch screen with Pets, the box with Seasons, and even the game menu starting with FreeTime. As Jud put it, the Maxis brand meant quality to me. It was a brand I trusted, a philosophy/approach to games I admired, and a symbol that something good still exists within EA. If they start putting the logo on sub-par products (i.e. Katy Perry Sweet Treats), I’m going to be disappointed.
Maxis is only in Emeryville. The Sims Studio/Team was once part of Maxis but broke apart by EA somewhere between 2004 and 2007. Unless they are starting to merge the two studios together or into the same facility? I think the last Sims game with Maxis in the credits was the one before FreeTime… I think.
Now EA Play is called Maxis. In Maxis (as a division) there’s The Sims Studio. And the original Maxis studio is called Maxis Emeryville.

Oh ok. Dunno how I missed that. Thanks for clearing that up. That’s awesome that there are now called Maxis once again instead of The Sims Studio/Team
This was with Master Suite 🙂
Why would be manipulating data? We don’t vote in polls. And if I were to vote, my choices would include SimsVIP and others – since other fansites I enjoy reading are not listed.
Just wait im confused? Is this EA re-naming themselves maxis, The original sims team mixed with EA now re naming themselves maxis or is it the complete original sims team who changed their name to EA, but are now going back to Maxis?
whatever, I just want the original sims 1/2 team from Maxis back for The sims 4 (we all know there is going to be one).
I have no idea what is even going on internally with EA/The Sims Studio/Maxis anymore. I just know that Maxis to me was about quality. I dont want to see their logo on sub-par games (some can argue that Spore and Darkspore were bad, and I can’t blame them but to have their logo on a sims 3 game when its clocked full of bugs and their timing of patches…yeah).
There’s a new post that explains this due to a new tweet from Graham. Basically, EA Play was moved around and the original EA Play became Redwood Shores. That is where The Sims Studio is located. There was always Maxis Emeryville since Will headed that studio to work on Spore. Also, a few years ago EA opened up a new studio in Salt Lake City Utah. Recently, both Redwood Shores and EA Salt Lake have been renamed Maxis. You could say Maxis Redwood and Maxis Salt Lake City. Now, back when Maxis was split up and EA created The Sims Studio, I’d say half of the people at Maxis were brought over to the main EA building which at that time was called EA PLAY. There are still a lot of people there and inside EA that worked on The Sims and The Sims 2. And according to Graham, we might or might not see the Maxis name/logo on a box of a Sims game in the future.
They only should use the Maxis name on games with dedicated developers, like the new SimCity
“Maxis” means nothing because Will Wright is gone and we don’t know the other team members of the original Maxis.
Just Maxis is now an EA trademark.
Agree with Jud. Maxis shouldn’t be so eager to put their logo on crap expansions like sht.
If the leaked info about the next EP is correct and they don’t remove stuff to put in a second EP that’s basically the same theme or into the store as Premium Content, include a patch at launch that actually fixes almost all of the current issues with the game, is bug/glitch free and is packed full of content as it looks like it will, then maybe just maybe it’ll deserve the Maxis name and logo on it’s box. I dunno why, but I still have a little faith in EA. Maybe they’ll surprise us in the future, who knows.
