I found this while snooping around YouTube, and I think this is what we’d all want – a nice reboot of The Sims franchise with The Sims 4 (that’ll be the make or break of the franchise I think). What do you guys think? I quite like this idea.
This is just something we were discussing to ourselves and we decided to make a loading screen for what would be the next instalment in The Sims franchise, simply titled ‘The Sims’.
We’d want this instalment to be more of a reboot, going back to the roots of the franchise delivering bundles of charm, fun and wacky gameplay.
I love the logo and music, the logo is like TS and TS2 logos mixed together.
The game has to be called The Sims 4. I don’t like games that just because they are reboots use a simple name like Mortal Kombat (2011) and the new Tomb Raider. I hate when they do that because it leads to confusion everywhere.
We all want it, but I don’t think Maxis even works on The Sims 4.. so we all know what that means.
I love this! I think the series needs a reboot. If they’re doing it with SimCity then I’m sure they’ll consider it with The Sims.
I wouldn’t expect EA to do a reboot. If it came from Maxis, then I would have some hope. Assuming there is even a next game, it may not even be called Sims 4. They might call it Sims Multiplayer, Sims Worldwide, or something similar to “Sims Online”.
And in any case, I think I’m done with the series. I’m happy with 1 and 2, and I think I’ll finish out my collection for 3 because it does have some good points about it. After this though, I’m done. EA is just whipping a dead horse now. The man behind the innovation of what was The Sims has moved on to other projects.
Spon1Player,
Personally I have a feeling that even if it rocks the Sims 4 will be the last of the franchise. They may well stop making them after the Sims 3.
If The Sims 4 sells, EA wont stop.
I love it… They should do this… What is this music? I don’t know it
“that’ll be the make or break of the franchise I think”
If it continues down the road of The Sims 3, I think it will break. What I’m hopping right now is that the bulk of the good theme creators and such at The Sims Studio have moved over to TS4 development.
Haha, we made this over at The Sims Hub for fun a few weeks ago. We’ve actually be writing up a whole document of stuff we’d want to see in the next instalment. We honestly believe they should just call it ‘The Sims’ as ‘The Sims 4’ just doesn’t work and honestly I feel it needs a reboot; go back to its routes and stuff.
As for the logo, I created that myself in Photoshop and I wanted it to go back to the original’s logo (hence the roof) but still keep the same sort of style as The Sims 3’s.
Music wise it’s just a free song found on a website called FreePlayMusic, nothing fancy. But we did decide we’d want a soundtrack similar to TS1 and Family Guy.
Personally I don’t like this trend of calling reboots the same name as the original. It makes things confusing. I always end up calling it like “Sonic ’06” or “SSX 2012” anyway, so it’s better to just keep it as The Sims 4. A logo like this fan-made one should be enough evidence that it goes back to its roots.
The Sims 4 is definitely make it or break it. The art style and general atmosphere should be closer to The Sims 1 while stuff like the cars and traffic system work more realistically. Not saying I want car crashes, but cars shouldn’t teleport to the road and make turns without losing any speed.
This is awesome! It looks modern enough to be relative but also has so much nostalgic values that it’s a great combination of new and old! Great job! Definiitly the route they should go with in The Sims 4. Bring back the stuff we loved between all 3 games and add a new fresh look. It’d be a perfect game!
Actually they should make a open source sims competitor
I agree with Vstarr. Sims 4 if they make it is not going to be anything like what people have been asking for. It will probably be online only like SimCity or there will at least be more emphasis on online connectivity. You can see how they are testing the waters with Sim Social and the Passport feature from Showtime.
It would be nice if it was something with the open world of TS3 but a more rounded experience like TS2 (and NO rabbit holes) but I don’t think that’s going to happen. I think it may end up being a somewhat different entity.
Either way I don’t think we’ll know for a long time yet. I think EA will keep TS3 ticking over for a while. Even if the expansions stop they could still produce store content while people wait to see what comes next.
The Sims Studio was spun-off from Maxis in the first place, so technically yes they do. More crucially, EA Play has been renamed to EA Maxis, so there is a very good chance the Maxis logo will return to The Sims series.
