Most of the time, when Game Developers discuss in-depth about their game engines, I tend to get lost. However, it looks like GlassBox simplified the engine down tremendously, to not only make it easier for the other developers to program with, but will also make it easier when the game is released and modders get their hands on it. I really look forward to hearing and seeing more of GlassBox. It literally has so much potential to what they can use it for!
I can’t wait for this game… so cool… 😀
I didn’t understand, are there things like power lines and water pipes or agents carry all of them.
I don’t like Sim city… I play for 10 minutes, and then my city hates me because there is no money. wtf?
So we don’t get to use power lines or water lines at all, or is it optional?
You’d use water and power lines, the agents that carry the electricity and water would travel along them.
From what I understand, there are 3 major things:
Paths
Agents
Resources
The paths are the user-defined paths along with the agents can travel. For cars, this is roads, for sims, it’s sidewalks, for water it’s pipes, for electricity it’s power lines (or roads/zones if they want underground ones), etc. The agents are what carry the resources along the paths. If it’s shippable then the agent could be represented as a car, if it’s something like water, the agent might be a generic “water agent” that represents water flow. Then the resources, of course, are the resources such as water or electricity.
So for water, a water agent would bring water along the pipe path, and the houses that are along that path would receive water.
