I wonder how these features will work with people who have Late Night Installed as well. Will this be another way to become a celebrity?
It’s like superstar. But I think the new gameplay will be minimal, I mean, that’s the only thing they got to advertise here. unless they put in weather as a sub-feature then this will be worth buying, but uhm, I really don’t know, but of course for sure, I’ll buy this, but anyway, it was just announced, I’m hoping for more.

This sounds so Meh! How exactly will this differ from the bands and gigs already in the game? Basically, this is a glorified add on to let us post to facebook?

I’m very interested to see what this does in conjunction with Late Nights fame system and if the careers are new or will they expound upon the existing ones.
Also Create your own venue sounds very Open for Business like. And with Magicians I’m sure that means more magic stuff and the meat of the pack is basically Superstar 2.0

imho, i think this will be the worst EP of sims 3. and i think i will pass this one. seriously, singing? singing random simlish stuff over and over again? performers? dj’s? magician? what kind of magic? rabbit hat? over and over again? what is happening with EA? they are ruining the game. and social media? facebook? there are already tons of problems playing by yourself and now you enable going to your friends house? and what if that friend has some bad cc in their game? EA is not thinking. and then what’s next? The Sims is multiplayer only game? or is much more focused in multiplayer contents? come on. this is BS EP to be honest. how sad EA is ruining the game. Where is MAXIS god damn it. sad sad sad… 🙁
Sounds like another EP barely worth the DVD it’ll be pressed on.
I’m quite frankly getting sick to death of all this social network integration crap being shoved into a game that is meant to be a single player experience. Then again, this is EA – the same EA who has vowed to tack multiplayer onto all their future single player titles, presumably to flog online passes and monitor their slaves, sorry, “customers” to make sure they don’t say anything negative on the official forums lest they lock you out of those games you’ve legally purchased on their crappy Origin service.
As for the EP itself – it’ll contain half the content of Superstar (but with double the number of bugs) at a higher price with the rest of the content being made available as day-one DLC on their crappy store. In all honesty, I don’t believe weather will ever happen (it’ll be up there with working outdoor lights that EA broke back in 2009) and quite frankly I’ve pretty much given up on this franchise.
EA has shown over the last year what a complete and utter joke they’ve become.

I was hoping that this was a trully remake of Superstar, with models, actors, another careers other than just singers. And did you all saw that this feature was narrow down to a specific plan? “To perform in a stage.”

I hope that the social stuff is optional because think of the lag this is going to cause when you go into your friends game. It lags bad enough now if you go to the in game store while your playing.
Also there are a few people who don’t have access to the internet so it would be dumb if they didn’t make this optional. I like single player mode.
I’m still glad to see singing return thou. I hope it brings back the karoke machine from the sims 2.
Singing will also aid in sims who are in bands.
Also I assume were going to be getting a new world with this ep unlike Gen that didn’t have one. They better because there is nowhere in Sunset Valley to put anymore venues.
One final point I hope there is more to do then talent stuff. I hope they include some freetime activities as well for sims and maybe open up the ocean for swimming.

This is what happens when a pc game ends up as a console game. With the addition of xbox & ps3, ea now wants to please the online gaming community. which in turn will alienate most pc gamers. This will be an ep I will not buy. It is yhe only way to let ea know we as the bulk of the simmer community are displeased. We have to hit them were it hurts, ea’s wallet.

Nightlife included celebrities and should have included all of this!! Having two expansions that have extremely similar concepts is not a good idea in my opinion.

Sounds like a mix of The Sims Online and Superstar. I think I MIGHT skip on that one as it doesn’t interest me. Yeah, looks like The Seasons will be the next expansion after that one.

This is actually really shocking the more I think of it EA basically took the stuff that prob was left out the worst expansion pack of the sims 3 and then introduced a social networking feature that few will use and when it is used will cause uncontrollable lag in a already laggy game.
I mean imagine if your friend has a world with bad path finding then add online lag…

I am defiently NOT LIKING the “social networking” part. You can have your friends sim by downloading them on the Exchange. Why have it inside your game? I really could care less about that part. I still have to see more to actually decide if I’m getting this or not. Pictures and maybe a Trailer will help me decide. But so far I am not liking what i’ve been reading.
And they better Announce Seasons after this expansion. Because that’s the one I’ve been waiting for since The sims 3 came out in 2009.

I can’t say that this sounds super exciting, we’ve got no interest in the Social Networking side at all, nor the ‘send your Sims to someone else’s game’ bit… We’d rather they get it so our Sims can move between cities without loosing all their relationships. Surely you can already share Sims via the exchange? I don’t believe for a minute that they’ve improved the system!
The Super Star side sounds like an attempt to cash in on shows like X-Factor, etc. which are dying a death here in the UK as we are all sick of reality shows!
It sounds very limited in it’s appeal and scope, more like a small part of what should’ve been a larger EP…

I know that the pre-buy warning on TS3’s boxes (“Includes software that collects data online necessary to provide and activate In-Game Advertising for all The Sims 3 products previously or hereafter installed”) has been there since Ambitions was released, but I have a really horrible feeling that this is the EP where they will actually implement the In-Game Advertising. I suppose they think that enough time has passed to sneak it in without too much protesting.

I got curoius and went hunting on the web. Most the simmer community thinks this EP is a freaking joke. Even on the S3 website, like 1 out of 10 are the only ones who think the social network nonsense sounds neat. And don’t worry about magic, I’m so betting it is more like stage magic then magic magic, as done in previous series. I can’t believe how many people want to buy it just for the singing and being able to build a venue…seriously? Did they come down on the price & why, prey tell wasn’t the celebrity nonsense of LN left for this EP? it seems silly & redundant to do two entertainment EPs…EA has lost its mind.
This sounds like shit to me I know we need more info on it and pictures and a trailer but the sims 3 anymore is losing it’s spark in me and a lot of others, it’s like they aren’t doing things like they used to they just throw bits and peaces here and there and call it a EP or a SP such a shame EA is destroying this franchise !!!
What happens if you send your sim to another player’s game, and you pick up a virus? Or you run into some porn made objects in someone else’s game? Sounds like a can of worms to me.

Just when things were looking up with Pets, this comes along. I love that we’re getting singing and DJs, but like with Generations there seems to be barely enough content to justify the price. Not to mention the community is going to be really divided with the social network stuff. Plus they’ll have to copy and paste Late Night’s fame system for this EP to make any sense.

I personally am finished with TS3 unless they do something amazing. Which is highly doubtful considering their track record as of 2009. Also, Does EA realise not everyone has internet on their PCs? so the social media is worthless anyways. And with the economy being what it is, things will go downhill from there. I also wouldn’t hold my breath over TS4 being any better at this rate. Same people who screwed up this series are working on the next one. . . it’ll probably be totally digital, buggier then a southern wetland and overpriced, where you buy all the content that should have been in the game @ the Sims Store…

Well, this will be the first EP I’m going to skip. These features should’ve been included with Late Night, and I absolutely don’t want any social features spamming up my game and taking up space on my hard drive. Personally, I think this is a terrible move for EA to make, they’re just trying to make up for an EP that people were disappointed with and trying to squish Sims 3 and Sims Social (two very different things) together. Oh, how I miss Maxis…
I have to admit, this really sounds like the worst thing the franchise has done. They have The Sims Social on Facebook! We dont need this or even want it in most cases.
They’re adding more issues to a near 3 year old which is already buckling under the pressure of poor development and unresolved bugs.
The franchise has turned into a free for all and for the first time I think The Sims has had its lost it’s magic and is on its way into the bargain bin…

Everyone the social thing should be optional. I don’t think they will force you to use it.
Will I buy it? Yes I will because I have to have every ep and sp. Atleast it will add singing for our sims in bands which should have been added in late night.
I’m a hardcore fan of the sims so I will be getting all 10 eps that are released.
I like everything else… but the social feastures!

If the “sending sims” allows you to control your sim as its in your other sims world, then I am extremely happy.

They are completely ruining the game not only should this have been in Night life but something else that is bothering me is the fact that they are selling premuim content in the store which in my opinion should come with exspanision pack.. If players boycot the game for that purpose and make it the worst selling EP of all time. maybe they’d get the message? the old “Hit them where they live…” which is our wallets & debit cards…Bad ep=bad sales = better ep next time around? mayhap?

It’s just sad… I’ve been a loyal fan since 2003, When I first got a pc, I’ve been hooked since till I see where The Sims branch of EA is taking this series. @ orangecake: Lol, I know…everything since the original sims seems like a lab rat/ marketing experiment. Imho, I honestly wish they’d scrub TS3 and skip to the next heartbreaking disappointment rather then beating the proverbial dead horse currently on the market. I’d rather have a 3 yr dry spell and get a great game then be milked with crappy eps/sps till the new series comes out. *Sighs* but there’s no point in complaining, it won’t change anything. i have never been more disappointed with an ep 🙁 what were they thinking? i dont want to connect with friends in my game, nor do i care about more careers and stardom. i want seasons! humbler things to make my sim life more memorable and realistic. i guess my wallet will stay full for a while now, there’s an upside.
