EA – Closed Beta Test for Showtime

BeyondSims BeyondSims Author

This might be the first time this has been done for a Sims game, but EA is sending out email invites out to select Simmers for a week long closed beta test of Showtime. Oh how I wish I would be lucky enough to be selected. I did get to be in the Darkspore closed beta a year or so ago, was fun. Of course those selected will have to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement/Embargo.

The Sims ™ 3 Showtime Team would like to Personally invite you to Participate in an exciting closed beta test for our electrifying new expansion pack! You have selected to Participate leg bone Because You have properly identified as a core member of The Sims 3 community. Thanks for being a super fan!

Nope, not the first time, years ago with the Sims 1 Pets they did it, mailing out the discs for beta trial.

This is actually a great idea. The main purpose is most likely to test the new social features, but it will also be a good test of the game itself. A good way to find bugs and glitches early and possible conflicts with other installed Expansions and Stuff Packs.

This is a very good move by EA.

Does this mean thou we won’t be getting any updates till after the 21st of January on this game?

There was suppose to be a producers walkthru with Aaron this week but I’m assuming that got cancelled because no day or time has been announced. A simguru mentioned this meeting last week and said it would be this week.

None of us fan/news sites have heard anything else about it yet. Hopefully it’s still gonna happen sometime this week.

I don’t see it as a good move by EA. I see it as a “let’s save our ass before even more of them rant on us” move. Lol

I think it’s great that they’re doing a real beta test. However, this is the first Sims EP that I am not even remotely interested in testing 🙁

Hope some of you guys who feel differently get picked!

The bugs I agree…but how do you test social features when none of your friends have showtime? You can’t send Sims with simport for friends without showtime can you?(If you can, I don’t see the purpose of the ep anymore, except concert.)

The social network works via thesims3.com, thus others in the beta test. That’s my guess. Dunno how they’ll actually test them.
