SHARE THE STORY OF YOUR SIMS’ RISE TO FAME IN EA’S THE SIMS 3 SHOWTIME
Pre-Order the Newest Expansion Pack from the Best-Selling PC Franchise of 2009* and Receive an Automatic Upgrade to a Special Limited Edition**Here is your chance to become a star and tell the story of your journey! Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) today announced that The Sims™ 3 Showtime Expansion pack*** for PC/Mac is in development and will launch worldwide in March 2012. The latest expansion pack from The Sims Studio allows players to live the rags to riches story with their Sims and share these experiences with their friends. Using new and innovative social features such as individual in-game news feeds and live updates, players are connected to each other like never before.
“The Sims 3 Showtime is a huge step forward for The Sims franchise,” explains Scott Evans, General Manager of The Sims Studio. “For the first time, we are introducing social features that allow you to send your Sims to a friend’s game, perform at their venue in front of their Sims where you both will earn rewards, and capture and share these in-game moments of your rise to fame.”
The Sims 3 Showtime allows players to connect and share with their friends and fellow fans of The Sims without ever leaving the game. Players will venture into a new world and live the dream as singers, acrobats, magicians and DJs. Using the all-new SimPort feature, players can send their Sim into a friend’s game to perform in their world, book gigs in their friends’ town, go on tour, and be reviewed. Along the way, players can earn rewards for achieving goals and accomplishing special challenges that can be tracked and shared via in-game social wall posts. Players have the opportunity to post their Sims’ successes, share gameplay techniques, create wishlists and send gifts, search for new friends and share memories through their in-game news feeds and as e-cards.
Players who enjoy building can customise their Sims’ stages using props and special effects to create unique venues such as a swanky concert hall, a massive stadium or an indie club. How the stage is built will directly influence a player’s Sim’s performance and career progression. For players who love a challenge, they can earn in-game rewards and accomplish goals such as performing a legendary show in a high-level venue. For players who enjoy experimenting, an endless amount of gameplay opportunities and choices within the game provide a vast array of situations for cause-and-effect play and hilarity to ensue.
The Sims 3 Showtime is currently available for pre-order****. Those who pre-order now will be automatically upgraded to a special Limited Edition version, which features the Ultimate Stage venue. Players can place this fully customisable venue in their world and will be able to use it as an additional stage for their Sims to perform on, complete with in-game props, backgrounds, lights and special effects. This bonus venue is available through pre-order and while supplies last.

have a feeling this expansion will be small like Generations. The social features truly is crap.. Who asked for those social features?!?
I hate the idea of these social features, makes me not want to buy the game at all.
I dont like it. Social features are just waste of space on disc and waste of time producer have spent on it, And just performing… Why no modeling, acting…
I hope they don’t forget to add option of working the sports career in the built stadium.
I also hope that the effin social features will be optional and if I want my sims have a performer on their wedding I can do it via single-player option.
I have a bad feeling about it, though..
FUARK you, Zuckerberg for inventing this goddamn horse poo called facebook!
sorry to “break your ice” That’s impossible. Because EA would immediately add to key features.(They hardly had anything to write on key features lol)
Because EA would immediately add to key features.(They hardly had anything to write on key features lol)
huh? o.O
Sorry, but…I realyl dont understand what your saying. Didn’t you mean “huh?” only in the last post?
If there was more about ‘sports’ than that guy doing the pull-ups, they would have listed it as a major new feature.
Right now they didn’t really add any key features except the FB crap and the SimPort which I hope to heaven you can shut off.
Unfortunate that this will be the first expansion pack that I won’t be buying at all. No interest in the content and definitely no interest in the so-called social features.
Although the social features are a great addition,
IT’S STILL LATE NIGHT 2
come on EA!!
No interest what so ever in the social features, not sure what EA were thinking as literally NO ONE on the forums seems to want them, but the rest looks kinda cool. However, I’m not sure how this is a big enough theme for an expansion so I hope there’s lots more content not shown.
We are not remotely interested in any of the social features (just like 99% of The Sims community it seems), and hope that all the game features work in ‘single player’ mode as well.
I don’t believe for a minute that the social features were highly requested by the fans!
Forgot to say, this is one EP that we won’t pre-order as we won’t want it if the the features are limited to social play only!
Looks like EA made the social features impossible to avoid, they’ve been structured right in so you can’t enjoy the rest of the features to the fullest w/o it… I’d like to see Jud or staff post a segment for people who pre-order & buy it the first day to post their own reviews of it since it has been such a debated topic. Just to see the real angle of the game w/o a gaming website giving it all stars reguardless of how good or bad it truely is. & I too wouldlike to know who in the sims community demanded/requested social networking in the gameplay? I thought everyone wanted weather, or at least that is what they all said. I personally wanted a gothic/haunted house/ addams family type ep with spooky occult things & magic in it. Not american idle….
Anyone know the detail how visiting friends work? If I was not mistaken, when you are going to a friend place, you need to load the whole world he/she is playing, not to imagine loading the graphic for each interaction with items and even custom items.
I have a feeling that custom items might crashed again
BTW, now I just noticed that why is it “Life” but in other form… cause facebook = life? Haha… what a ridiculous life…
Jingle bells,
Rottecelli smells,
Ea laid an egg!
Sims 3 has lost its feel
and Humble ran awayyyyyyy…….
Oh crap… I’m intrigued by it, because I have a feeling, it has a lot of new skills, wich is something I really like… But those social features, like someone already said, they really look like, it’s propably either impossible to play without them, or you’ll lose alot of features if you don’t. This makes me sad. 🙁
yeah right….”black box” and white text. Boys luv it(Hell no, i’m 17!)…F*CK u EA Russia
No worries. let EA make crappy expansions. there’s always the ‘torrent’ if you don’t want to buy showtime and still you can play it.
That’s right! We men love Aliens and Weather! Bring on deadly lightning and anal probes! Scratch the second thing… lol
Same here. This just proves that they don’t care about the community at all. I mean, COME ON. Everybody wanted weather! and even if they couldn’t give us that, the least they could do is make an expansion pack that is not Late Night Part 2.
why not just add all this to late night? honesty if late night had all these skills and singing withOUT the social features it would have been perfect. ugh, the sims 3 is a FAIL. it doesn’t even feel like the sims anymore. to me the only expansion that felt like sims was late night.
The Sims 3 Showtime allows players to connect and share with their friends and fellow fans of The Sims without ever leaving the game.
Seems the money machine called EA is ruining what was a fun game.
If this game requires social interaction to do most things, it WILL BE THE LAST SIms game I buy because it will bork the rest of them down the line.
Once a game starts needing social crap like that, the rest will be set up to do the same. Bad enough Pets left a disaster with favorite CC just when I had loads of it working great 🙁
Now this train wreck…..
And I’m glad to know I wasn’t the only one comparing this to NL….unlike a certain know-it-all in Sims 3 forums that insisted i was wrong & its “nothing like NL”, just because she thinks that way…
R.I.P. Sims franchise!! :'(
this is a lot of bool******
