Mod The Sims user Sims MX has found some interesting info about the upcoming Pets Expansion. Located in the game files of the new patch, there is new info about objects, traits, pet breeds and much much more. You can find the file by opening DeltaBuild0.package and then go to the STBL. Please note that all of this information is part of an EP currently in development, any info below and in that file is subject to change.
Here’s a sample of the info included in the game code. The most interesting bit on info below is the new creature. Unicorn!
- New items: mechanical bull, vending machines (candy, drinks, and healthy food) and ice cream trucks.
- Wild animals: horses (can be tamed), strays (can be adopted), raccoons and deers.
- New creature: unicorn. Can start a fire, teleport, cure Sims, bless and curse Sims and plants, and can be released.
- Competitions: racing and cross country (beginner, advanced, and international).
- New NPCs: jockeys, zoologists, animal rescuers, fairy tale finders, ark builders.
- New traits: equestrian, cat person, dog person, animal expert, and animal lover.
- Pet traits: likes swimming (dog only), lazy, aggressive, agile (horse only), brave, destructive, fast (horse only), hyper, loyal (dog only), gentle (horse only), hydrophobic (dog only), nervous (horse only), noisy, piggy, playful, proud, skittish, adventurous, cluless, friendly, genius, hunter, independent, neat, non-destructive, mean, quiet, shy, hates jumping (horse only), ornery (horse only), raised by wolves (may be dogs only), and reinforcement.
- Tricks: sit, sit up, shake, speak, roll over, play dead. Trick skill.
- New skill: riding.
- Pet skills: racing and jumping.
- New lots: cat jungle, horse ranch, and dog park.
- Other pets: ants, birds (blue gold macaw, catalina, macow, cockatoo, congo African gray, crow, falcon, spotted sixam, yellow naped Amazon), lizards (anole lizard, ancient dragon, gecko, chameleon, pygmy komodo dragon, agama lizard, texas spiny lizard), rodents (chinchillas, hedgehogs, squirrels, rats, shrews, womrats), snakes (yellow python, garter snake, emerald tree boa snake, malayan krait snake, yellow chondro python, scarlet king snake, San Francisco garter snake, iridescent shieldtail snake, and mini python), and turtles (barbours map, spotted, eastern box, Indian roofed, red eared slider, pygmy, spiny, and western painted).
- New careers: horse(wo)man
- Lifetime rewards: pet clone voucher, young again (for pets), steel bladder (for pets), swank pet bed, pet hygienator, vomit immunity, alpha, atomic grazer, best behavior, fearless foal, equine zen, desert pony, friend of the herd, gardener’s delight, and lucky mount.
- Pets can gain or lose traits.
- Horses will nurse from their mother or be bottlefed.
- Foals get negative moodlets for being separated from their mothers.
- Horses eat carrots.
- Pets can exorcise ghosts?
- Dogs can swim.
- Cats can hunt and fish birds, snakes, turtles, lizards, beetles, fish, and rodents. Dogs can hunt too.
- One foal per pregnancy (horses), litters per pregnacy (cats/dogs).
- Horses can kick Sims.
- Horses have excercise and thirst motives. Dogs have destruction motive.
- Pets don’t have jobs.
- Pets don’t receive opportunities.
- Pets cannot be placed on vacation lots.
- Pets do not have lifetime wishes.
- Cat breeds: Black Cat, Grey Striped, Persian, Siamese, Singapura, Russian Blue, Tuxedo.
- Dog breeds: Border Collie, Collie, Pug, Dalmatian, Doberman, Poodle, Setter, Dachshund, Bull Dog, Highland Terrier, Pitbull, Shiba Inu, Australian Shepherd, Chow Chow, German Shepherd, Golden Retriever, Newfoundland, Samoyed, Giant Schnauzer, Siberian Husky, Spaniel Springer, Terrier Airedale, Terrier Kerry Blue.
- Horse breeds: American Painted, Friesan, Icelandic, Morgan, Palomino.

Also, I’m hoping there’s more cat/dog breeds than that – what happened to the 100+ breeds?
This looks great but the horse breeds I’d be severely disappointed if that’s it..Man I hope you can at least customize close to every inch of the horse because the premade ones sound lame.
theblackscorpion, I would remove that file ASAP. Although we can discuss it’s content now that we know it, it’s possibly not legal to share the file itself, and it’s contents are currently the subject of an non-disclosure agreement so spreading it around will be a big headache for EA staff who have to pretend we don’t know any of this for weeks, if not months, yet.
Keep this post. Delete the file. Tell people they can find it in the game if they own it.

Interesting! Unicorn is something that is not expected to perhaps some of us. I think it sounds fascinating. The rest of others look good and exciting.

I want to know the ways to adopt a pet. Will there be a community lot that we can go look and buy them?
@Karen I think there is a community lot but only in the Limited edition. So I guess the other way is to adopt by phone or make them ourselves. Idk
There is way more info in that text file than listed above. Every thing from the traits, breeds, commands a sim can give a pet and new interactions. One new interaction is ‘Harass Death’. Sounds like we can command a pet to annoy the Grim Reaper. So cool.
There are also books that Sims can read to learn the riding skill! Riding Vol. 1: Zen and the Art of Not Falling Off a Horse. Vol 1-3.

it’s cool that you’re excited, but please don’t post game code. Pets is still under development and EA probably already has NDAs in place. This is why i removed the link to the file. Nobody wants to be sued.

I’m glad that there’s quite a variety on other pets, but what I’m wondering is how could they not have a ferret as a pet choice?
I certainly hope there are more breeds for the animals. I really hope they add more breeds for the cats and horses and there are some popular dog breeds missing as well. I hope they’ll add Chihuahua, Pomeranian, Rottweiler and Corgi breeds at least.

Wow, that’s a pretty big leak for EA. Good to see deer are still in. I’m pleased with the variety of small pets too. Crows? Falcons? Hedgehogs? Heck yeah!!

Ice cream trucks in Pets? Didn’t see that one coming. I expected that to be either a store item or part of a seasons EP. I guess anything can change, I doubt the game has gone gold this early.
Don’t worry they save them for the store I’m 100 % sure.
I’m disappointed that there won’t be werewolves in this expansion pack, but unicorns might still be fun. Their magic powers might be useful.

UNICORNS!!! YAY!!! I’m super excited about the Unicorns! But I did kind of want werewolves to go along with our vamps.

Werewolves might also fit in a Seasons or agricultural expansion pack.
By the way, I still want to know what those Cat Jungles will. I think I know what a horse ranch and a dog park are, but I’m still do not know what the new Cat Jungle venue will be.

I have a turtle myself and was bummed when there wasn’t turtles in sims 2, glad there will be some in sims 3. I just hope that they make more turtle types. Ornate Box Turtles, please?

It doesn’t mean that because we had werewolves in TS2 , we are gonna have them in TS3. They are 2 different games..
Wow! I never expected rats, shrews, hedgehogs, different bird species,etc ! I really hope these animals can be found around town and interacted with rather than brought in buy mode and kept in a cage at home. This ep never appealed to me until now, in fact I haven’t played the sims 3 in years. I’m kinda excited! Also looking forward to horses and foals!

Yeah, but still… everyone knew that it was going to be a unicorn or a wolf, but i really would rather the wolf, a unicorn is just a horse, pretty much anouther type of a horse but with powers and a horn… wow… wolves are way cooler and better and they are ACTUALLY SIMS.

I love every bit of this info, esp about the wild animals, unicorns, and other pets! But there HAS to be more cat and dog breeds, they have said over 100 cat/dog breeds in every interview, so the ones up there aren’t all! Hopefully they have beagles!! That’s the kind of dog I have! 😀

Are you aware that Piano’s have been in the game files since around base game, yet they were not in the game until recently? Dance skill files were also in there from Ambitions but there were no dance skills in the game at that time.
Sometimes EA sticks files in as placeholders, so many of these things may not be in the next EP and could belong to one or two EP’s down the line.
None of this is confirmed. They are just game files at the moment.
Some things look like they should be in a magic EP to me, which could mean that the next EP may be a magic one. Nothing is certain till the discs are printed.
The piano and dance files weren’t text in the STBL, which is where this has come from. It’s a slightly different situation. ^_^
every time I read through some of the stuff in the STBL it makes my eyes hurt. There is sooo much info in there. But it makes me even more excited for pets than I already am. 🙂
There will be squirrels, but no rabbits? This saddens me.
