So we know that Barnacle Bay is coming to retail stores on March 8th for $20. What content is included though to make it worth that price? EA breaks the pack down. Seeing as this is not wanted by a majority of site visitors (and hated) I still feel obligated in picking it up to add to my collection (because I don’t deal with digital content, I never did buy the content off of the Sims 3 Store.
Here’s an overview of the contents of the pack:
Barnacle Bay World:
A New World Awaits – Escape to Barnacle Bay today! An island nestled in the Simuyan Sea, Barnacle Bay is a vibrant vacation getaway with stunning beaches, campgrounds, parks, and a curiously modern downtown. First settled by pirates, fisherman, and artists – the world’s inhabitants now enjoy relaxing at Smuggler’s Beach and letting loose at The Wanderer’s Watering Hole. Will Your trip be a vacation or a staycation?Buccaneer’s Bounty Set:
Buccaneer’s Bounty: Calling all scallywags! These treasures be yours for the taking, assuming you have enough courage, truth and a map (16 items are included in this set). Two All-New Exclusive Staircases:
For context, currently there are only 2 staircases for sale in the Store (this pack provides two additional and exclusive item), perceived value is high!
- Jacob’s Staircase – This staircase made of rope can be used to disembark the ship to your next pillaging.
- Barnacle Free Staircase – Let ye buckled boots and ye peg leg stomp upon these sturdy stone steps of olde.
If you have Late Night, can you let us know if the hood shows with some of the LN buildings in it? I used some of the free points for the hood on the store, but then had to try and squeeze in some of blank lots to add the LN buildings.
Wish they had announced this in the LN packaging. I would have gladly waited for this instead of use the free points they gave away.
only 16 items for $20 ????
no one will buy this crap…. :O
What a total and complete rip-off!!
I can’t believe they make such a big deal over 2 new stairs (bet they’ll be on certain sites within a few hours).
As they themselves said this is exactly the same as the version on the store so why would anyone choose to buy it this way? Especially as you don’t even get a disc?!?!
It’s pretty much the same as buying a Sim Points voucher in a store then downloading Barnacle Bay and the Buccaneer set from the Store?!
Some one needs to take the EA people to one side and have a quite word with them!
I can see this being the Year The SIms dies at this rate…
Outdoor Stuff – Over priced, useless content.
Barnacle Bay – Overpriced re-released Store stuff.
Generations – Lame subject, lacks Pets or Weather.
Loads of Store Stuff – Over priced, useless content.
More and more bugs, never fixed.
The fans finally give up on EA.
The Sims franchise goes the way of SimCity…
Whatever EA touches, dies eventually. SimCity has died and The Sims is hitting the floor, hard.
@TickleOnTheTum
Well written especially the last paragraph, and about the game bugs, they dont have time to fix them, because they are on many platforms like IPhone, many cell/mobile platform, Mac, Xbox… Sims 3 is great game, but many expansion packs had to be there like weather. They only need money, thats all.
oh my god. TWO STAIR CASES?? Well I’m officially sold. /sarcasm
guys why do u have to whine so much….
I don’t like the store or this Barnacle Bay set…but I absolutely love and adore the Sims 3 and the expansion packs are kicking awesome…
we’ll eventually get pets and season but no one wants the same stuff again and again..
and we don’t even know what Generations is about yet…however it seems very cool and family-related 🙂
stop blaming EA…
this is called business!!!
I’d hold out until it drops to a fiver before you pick it up, Jud!
I think the only thing left for EA to do in order to kill off the franchise is turn it into a generic dull, grey, multiplayer FPS. There is literally no soul left in this series anymore and I think the only reason why there’s still any interest in the game at all (away from the sheeple forum) is down to the stubborn hardcore modders who fix the bugs and make this game worth playing.
It’ll be interesting to see if phreakindee picks this up and does one of his Lazy Game Reviews on it. He was brutally honest with that Outdoor Stuff pack when many other reviewers painted it in a glowing light.
This really does seem lamer and lamer. Overpriced, and not the greatest of neighborhoods and extra items either. I’ll grab it eventually once it goes on sale, but already having downloaded it from the store I’m in no rush whatsoever.
And that is why I only trust phreakindee’s reviews. I want the truth when I read up on what I will potentially be buying, not diabetes-causing sugar-coated words!
EXCUSE ME….buisness? Damn…Even McDonald can do better than them then.
Oh by the way you DON’T HAVE TO buy everything EA makes!!!
OH MY GOD, 2 excuslive staircases! What a sweep! Joke, this fails and EA needs to get it f-ing together.
Exclusive*
@lolifolo
Don’t need to be THAT rude…if i hurt you, sorry then….(we straight?)
But then again….i thought family-oriented ep was like….isn’t The Sims gameplay is family-oriented?
I’d prefer waiting a whole year but only if they release a proper expansion full of features that’s worth it. No bugs, no shitty worlds. I can’t believe what’s happening and their sales are growing…
think of it as a SUPER MINI MINI MINI MINI SP THAT NOBODY WILL BUY! 🙂
