Don’t stone me, fellow readers. I had to, it’s the ‘Collector’ and die-hard fan in me. And to the speculation about the box containing just the code is true – I am a very disappointed lad as it does not contain a CD. To me, it was completely unnecessary, but of course it’s purpose to reach out to try to get more people into their store. I’ve yet to redeem my purchase and download the new town and it’s items – but I will shortly. I’m going to dig around for a blank CD so I can burn the downloads on it and place it in it’s box. Yes, that’s how I am!
I’m curious to see how the mass market will react to this. Many fans are against the idea in general and well, can’t say I blame them. I also have to point out that there must have been a disgruntled Walmart employee/Sims fan as the copies they had were located at the bottom (nowhere near the other Sim games) turned around. I had to dig for a copy. No, it wasn’t me!

Wow, that’s just a new low in EA’s run of wasteful packaging
Not even a CD?! Wow, imagine the amount of people who will call their stores saying they got ripped off haha.
But seriously! I agree with @sawcat . Could have easily done with a cardboard CD such as ones most music CD’s come on these days and saved all that plastic.
What a shame. A real waste of paper, plastic, ink, and the fuel to deliver them to the stores. I hope this doesn’t become a trend. It’s just so wasteful. You need the base game to use this thing, so why not just slip a small ad in the manual, or the game’s start menu. Done.
What a total rip off! It would have cost them just 1p – 2p to include a disk in that!
Shame on you for buying it, I’m sorry but you are giving them the idea that people want this sort of rubbish by buying it!
Thank goodness for the site that puts this stuff up for free!!
At least they printed “digital download” on the front of the package (instead of CD/DVD), but since I have never seen that on a game before, I would have overlooked it.
I’m disappointed that there wasn’t a ad for the new (as-yet-unannounced) XP in the package. How long must we wait?
Thanks for sharing this. There was some confusion at our forum and I was able to show your post. They should have released this at the same time as the original digital copy to avoid confusion. But hey, they get twice the buzz spacing it out like this.
hi just wondering how to burn my downloaded store items to a disc, I hate having to redownload them again…and say thanks for the info….if anyone has the answer please email me at tammythames828@gmail.com thanks!
My guess is to find the package files (I believe they are in a folder under “My Documents/EA/The Sims” and burn them onto a CD using your burner software.
I thought the reason they still did Stuff Packs was so the Sims players that don’t have regular internet access would still be able to have add-ons in their games. I could see if they did this with BB and actually had a CD, but I really don’t see the point here. If someone is able to use the internet to download BB, then why do they need to buy it in a store? It’s just a complete waste of packaging.
EA is getting out of control!!!
EA is one of the reasons the planet is doomed. So freaking wasteful! ]:(
Yeah, so much for the ‘eco-friendly’ trait, EA needs to get them some, lol! Hypocrites.
Hi sims fan here just to let all of you know that this is true i just bought the game “well that is what i thought”!! now what do i need to do next? if anyone knows please let me know
Go to the official site, go to the store, under your account, redeem code and it’ll be in your purchase history.
Download it and then in your launcher hit ‘show file’. Burn that file to a disc and volia, you now have a copy (thats what I did anyhow)
Well if one does not not have any internet to download this game and they buy it what to do?????
