The demo started out with a co-op campaign level where I was taught the basics of switching between my team of three heroes. I also learned how important variable classes will be in combat. If your enemies share you hero type, you’ll be destroyed. Luckily, you’re encouraged to bring different heroes into battle and utilize their unique abilities to conquer your enemies.

One hero I was using had a tech focus and launched rockets. Another was a ghoul who could frighten the less powerful enemies and leech life from units around him. My third hero was a brawler with time warping abilities. Aside from the unique ability to switch heroes on the fly, Darkspore will also allow player to use abilities from their team regardless which hero they’re currently playing as. This adds a layer of depth to combat that can’t be matched by Action RPGs that only put the player in charge of one character.
