GameRevolution – The Sims Medieval impressions

BeyondSims BeyondSims Author

After being treated to a tongue-in-cheek intro cinematic narrated by none other than nerd idol Patrick Stewart, the game demonstrated right away how different it is from other Sims titles by opening with a view of the castle and all the other buildings that comprise your kingdom. As Nick mentioned in his preview of the game, Medieval feels like a blend of Sims and Civilization-esque kingdom building. You’ve got all your traditional Sim creation stuff which is as detailed as it ever was, but each Sim is more of a cog in the medieval machine than the main focus of your efforts. As your kingdom gains resources, you’ll be able to build functional structures like a blacksmith or wizard’s tower, then create the Sim that will work there (a blacksmith or wizard, duh!). The player created Sims will interact with each other, as well as the computer-generated NPCs that populate the town.
