Do you remember a time where ‘exclusive’ literally meant that, and not ‘for a limited time’? Looks like EA is going to try to capitalize on Barnacle Bay and try to reach out to the folks who don’t use the Sims 3 Store. According to two listings found by InfiniteSims, both GameStop and Amazon are offering pre-orders for retail copies of The Sims 3 Barnacle Bay, set to be released on March 8th, 2011. To spice things up a bit, they’re offering additional content to the retail pack according to Amazon’s product info:
Live the island life in Barnacle Bay! Your Sims will enjoy stunning beaches, parks, campgrounds, and a curiously modern downtown. Whether they’re meeting new Sims or uncovering the community’s secrets, life at the seaside is full of surprises! A New World Awaits-Escape to Barnacle Bay today!
- Meet new Sims, discover the world’s secrets, and grab a bite to eat at Hogan’s Deep Sea Diner.
- Discover the mysterious Barnacle Bay lore by exploring the abandoned piers of Founder’s Beach and the relics found within the Goldbeard Galleon Gallery
- Explore the mystery hidden in Pirate’s Hideaway or meet new Sims at The Wanderer’s Watering Hole
- Enrich your Sims and their lives in all-new ways with 18 exclusive items only available in Barnacle Bay
- The Barnacle Bay Retail Pack includes premium content! Buccaneer’s Bounty Set Exclusive and All-New architectural items
Being a collector, I’m pretty much obligated to get this. But I still don’t agree with the $20 price. I’ll try to catch it in a future sale – you know it’s bound to happen 😉

Well, it seems that EA is going to break their word that the Store will feature only exclusive items. I hope this is for the better.
Look at the bright side of the things. If you don’t have Barnacle Bay and Buccaneer’s Bounty Set, the pack is even cheaper to buy from Amazon. There will be new architectural items. So there will be around 40 to 60 new items (60 if EA are generous but don’t count on that) and the price is of a SP. You get new items and a World so I think the amount of money is fair.
Another plus is that fans already know what will be included and there were a lot of posts about Barnacle Bay and a lot of screen shoots of it.
This is the height of ridiculousness. This world is not worth half the price they charge, and I say that as someone who *owns Barnacle Bay (thanks to the kind soul who gifted it)* and who builds worlds.
I would be ashamed to be selling this world. It’s just so dull and under-produced.
Remember that competition a while back, where you could with 4000 sim points with GamingLives?
I managed to win that, so I could manage to get Barnacle Bay from the store anyway.
Are they planning on fixing the issues that Barnacle Bay currently has.
lulz. I wouldn’t even buy it if it were 50% off. At least not for the world… the new architectural items sound interesting, but not interesting enough to waste $10, let alone $20.
How do they plan on doing this? Releasing a disk. The Sims 3: Barnacle Bay
Anything to make a quick buck. What they don’t realize is that the people who can’t access the store use other means to get the store items. I don’t own Barnacle Bay, nor will I ever but this idea is ludicrous.
That costs to much.
LOOK AT THIS FAKE POST: http://cgi.ebay.com/Sims-3-Barnacle-Bay-PC-Brand-New-/120686887739?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item1c197fc33b#ht_725wt_698
Copy and paste. Its a faker on ebay lol!
It IS sold at Gamestop-ONLINE ONLY!
There is NO disc. I HATE that. Most cases, you lose what you buy in a year or 2 if you get new computer or something -digital accounts expire & you payed just to borrow. It’s NOT fair!
its extra work, but I bought my copy from walmart, downloaded it and burnt it on a CD so I can have it in my collection, installing it whenever I want 🙂
It would also give you a reason to backup any other Sims Store purchases onto the CD as well.
