The Sims 3 Store to be adding items with additional gameplay feature?

Now, don’t you panic just yet!  There is no telling for sure what this actually means as of now what The Sims 3 team is planning on doing.  While browsing the Sims 3 Store, DoodleSam noticed a new icon at the bottom of the download page with a button marked ‘Additional Gameplay’.  This kind of alarms me after seeing this, because for the most part, The Sims 3 Store should only feature items that appear to have different styles – but still function the same.  The additional gameplay should belong in expansion or stuff packs.

Although, if it is done right – and hopefully – The Sims 3 Team will consider releasing some of their items that were from expansions to the store so people who are not interested in the full pack can just get the items they only want.  I don’t see any issue in that (other than the outrageous pricing) but I can already predict a ton of heated arguments if they start bringing whole new items to the Sims 3 Store exclusive to those who purchase Simpoints.

Kudos to reader Nate for informing me of this matter!

I’m interested and worried at the same time to see what we get out of this. With the store being updated in two weeks, hopefully we’ll find out on the 4th.

And if it is a must have thing, at least we’ve got MATY. *wink*

I’m actually very curious about this as well! I didn’t think they could add new actions/animations except thru a patch or EP! Like the Career Bundle from Ambitions, where the content is already in the game it just has to be activated!
    Hmmm…
Thanks everyone, for this information!! 😀

I think that this is prepared for christmas objects thus year. They will be on store.

Well, if modders can add new interactions with their objects, why can’t EA?

I doubt they’ll resell *anything* in expansions piece by piece through the store, that would kill their EP sales. I’ll bet these will be small, one-shot objects that don’t fit any expansion pack theme.

I’m not completely against this especially if that gave me the option to have my sims take pictures without having World Adventures installed.

EA has found another way to get people’s money.

This has been done before. Remember Sims 2 Store when they added exclusive Baby Stuff that was supposed to be included for Sims 2 Apartment Life. Those objects have their own animation and interactions…so this is really possible.
