Looks like IGN is getting a head start on their Gamescom 2010 coverage, this gem just appeared in my RSS reader. It’s their preview for The Sims 3 Late Night – including 3 new images.
Well, in Late Night, it’s probably a vampire which should please True Blood and Twilight Sims players. They aren’t fearsome or scary, really. In fact, you can’t bite anyone without their permission. You can hunt, which colors the Sims around you with a Predator-like thermal vision, but you can only bite your friends. Just like in real life, right? No? If Sims are willing you can also offer to turn them into vampires as well instead of just biting them. Depending on the level of the relationship (for example if you’re married to a vampire), you’ll also see different, more intimately-styled animations for the bites.
Vampires can only bite with permission? Hahaha EA comes up with really stupid shit nowadays.
Arcade cabinets? o_0
Vampires can only bite their friends? Lol…and they dare to call sims 2’s vamps “family friendly” and sesame street like…
Shame they’re going the WA route again…I don’t want to become famous in order to buy better houses/apartments. That’s just boring. I don’t want to make every sim in the neighbourhood famous just so that they can own a nix house and visit the best clubs. That’s not realistic at all.
Great, I had hopes for this EP but it’s beginning to sound like it’s gonna suck as bad as the base game and both EP’s we already have. Vampires have to ask permission, for real??? It’s a Twilight knock off for sure.
Here’s the problem: Sims gamers want p0w0rz!
Creative and story-telling powers. Maxis understood the universal power of allowing players to take control of the gameplay. The main problem with WA was lack of player control: We couldn’t make our quests.
Why not a user-controlled quest system? That would introduce control in very Maxis/Sims series way.
Why not a more dynamic, user-controlled self-employment system?
EA needs to stop forcing players into stale, linear, enforced role-play. This is starting to get really demotivating.
Hopefully, the very talented modding community will be able to change and/or eliminate some of those restrictions…especially the Vampire “asking permission to bite”! 😛
Why are people so butthurt about having vampires ask for permission. Yes, it sounds ridiculous but you don’t have to get your panties in a wad just because the game won’t go entirely your way.
I think it’s silly, but then again that’s what user-made mods are for.
With that kind of mindset it’s no wonder EA’s gets away with cranking out half-assed EPs. They know that a) modders will eventually fix their shit and b) they know that players don’t expect a good game from them anymore but instead rely on mods to make the game enjoyable. They obviously have no respect for the franchise anymore.
