Hmm, sounds like a combination of Dragon Age Origins and Spore. I really liked both games but I’m not liking this so far. It seems like games we’ve already played before.
This has generally struck me as a derivative direction. I thought they plugged in Spore to a series of very established game forms. Watching this, it sounds like he says that’s exactly their idea early in the video. It feels a bit like they lost the plot of it all. I wonder if Wright leaving influenced this getting to be made. Either way, I find it curious that people I would think were so close to the insight and perspective that Wright maintained would go on to come up with this.
Anyway, I don’t think I’ll be trying this out unless it were to go on sale, or unless some other facet that is genuinely interesting surfaces. The older I get, the more picky I’ve truly become with spending money.
