We reported about the fact that EA registered a number of domains relating to The Sims Medieval the other day, and the following concept art could put us at one step closer to confirming the title. While browsing thru the game files, SimFans discovered around 500 pieces of concept art used for the drawing table in The Sims 3 Ambitions. Many portray scenes from World Adventures and character arts, but there are some drawings that are medieval related. Of course, there are two instances in Ambitions where a Sim comes out of the Time Machine donning the clothes from the Medieval ages, but seeing actual pieces of scenery may possible be giving us a sneak peak at what is to come from The Sims franchise. You know how EA likes to sneak in little surprises, after all. Feel free to download a 17MB file containing all the artwork from SimFans, or just view the photos below.
If anything, we’ll have to wait closer to E3 later in the month as it may be announced then – or we could all be wrong and end up looking like donkeys!
So, let me get this straight… if this is true, this would be a standalone game and not an EP? I hope so, because an entire EP on this theme is is a bit much. I can see this theme as being a fraction of an EP, but not an entirety of one. Now, if it’s a standalone game, I’d buy it in a heartbeat, provided that we’d get the same concept of The Sims 3 but in a medieval setting. That’d be fun. And then with each EP for that game, if following the creature tradition, we’d get mystical creatures instead, including fairies and mermaids (both of which I’d love). The opportunities system can be added to include Zelda-like adventures. There truly is much potential if this became a standalone game. I hope that it’s not a rumor!
No EA… Please, NO!!!!!!!!
Why not? If it’s a standalone game, how would it affect the Sims? I think it’d be a great idea. Yes, EA… please, yes! 😉
Yea! I agree frankie! I think it’d be great, IF they pull it off well and not make it stupid kid stuff like Sim Animals! More like The Sims! Although I do prefer them working on TS3 EP’s such as Seasons and Pets, but we’ll see what happens! 😀
The point is, what this kind of EP can bring to The Sims 3? It’s like a World Adventures in the past… I thiink they can do whatever they want, but not a stupid EP with this theme, who have alot of itens in Store. Well, that’s my opinion.
oh i hope its not an EP, id understand it as DLC or an SP…but an entire EP dedicated to medieval is a little much…im not interested at all. please EA, make it a stand alone game or DLC
I saw a little dog in one of the pictures too 😀 maybe a pets ep is around the corner too
James S., I was only talking about a standalone (separate) game. I agree that it shouldn’t be an EP. Just a standalone game or an SP or CC. Preferably a standalone game more like The Sims 3! 🙂 And David, that dog brings me hope for some pets in the game, even if not a Pets EP but just to have some pets in the game. We shall see!
I was only explaining why i said no, but i tought you guys were talking about a Medieval EP
A lot of that concept art is drawn in game by stylist sims. I fail to see why EA would make this EP, hardly anyone would by something so themed, for a game that simulates ordinary life, albiet with a few twists, but nothing as drastic as a different time period.
I think this migh be something along the lines of Sims Stories, like the Life, Pets and Castaway stories? That’s possible.
And it could not be a official Expansion Pack because it would be impossible to fit in.
ITS JUST A DIFFERENT
TIME PERIOD!
ea should concentrate on pets and seasons and nightlife!
😀
The ONLY thing I see in those pictures that even hints towards medieval are those outfits that are obtainable by going into the past through the inventor’s time machine…. so.. I don’t see any other things pointing to it aside from the one “leakage” we got earlier. o_O However, EA has been favoring mini-purchases a lot (such as simpoints, for instance), so maybe they’ll make “mini-expansions” with certain features in them?
In my opinion, I really doubt this is a new base game. It’s highly unlikely that EA would rewrite the whole The Sims 3 game in a medieval setting. However, I can see this as an EP. For example, a medieval town with Jousting and things like that. That would all be pretty cool. These concept pictures (http://simfans.de/index.php?subaction=showfull&id=1275648433&archive=&start_from=&ucat=11&😉 are after all, just from a part of the game and could mean anything. And those domains, well, they do not show EA as the registrant but EA always shows itself as the registrant.
No doubt it’d be cool as any game (console?)!
Does everyone reckon it could be Sims 3 Expansion Pack 3, or a game similar to Castaway?
With as much time as I spent downloading Medieval-themed content for the sims 2, I know I would buy this game in a heartbeat. I love the Medieval-Fantasy type of deal, though I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea (or ale, haha). The only thing is that I think it might alter the normal game too much. I would love to have the sims 3 and it’s expansions, then sims 3 medieval as a separate game. That would work out well for everyone, but even if they do decide to include it as an expansion, no one is forcing you to buy it. If it doesn’t interest you, fine. There are tons of people whom I know are jumping for joy right now. 🙂
Maybe I blinked and missed it or something, but I didn’t see a single medieval-ish thing in here that wasn’t related to Ambitions.
Personally, I’m a big fan of medieval themes in my sims games, but I really doubt that they’d dedicate an EP to it. At this point, I’m just hoping that a talented creator will make a medieval world (with [dirt] roads!).
I certainly hope that they create a stand-alone medieval game. There is a great deal of interest in medieval/fantasy Sims 3 themes and I for one would be over the moon if they finaly listened to the fans who have been clamouring for this for ages. Yes, I agree it could not work as an EP- it would change the basic nature of the game too much, but I would love this as a separate game and would certainly buy it.
