Just received word from the webmaster of Russian fansite Sims.miXei.RU about the upcoming so-called ‘Collector’s Edition’ of The Sims 3 Ambitions. They contacted EA Russia to see if they could get more information and were given the following response:
It’s not a Collector’s Edition, it is a book about the developers and the characters of the Sims. It will be released in France, Italy, Spain, the UK and Germany only, and will be available in book stores. It will not be published in Russia.
So…no game then, just a 48 page book that comes with a poster, sketches and other misc. goodies? I suppose it looks to be this way. So far Germany and Spain will have this to release with Italy, France and UK soon to be mentioned. No US release, so it looks like I’ll be ordering a copy from Ebay soon after the expansion’s launch (speaking of which, I did the same for The Sims 3 Create-A-Sim).

It has to be some kind of Special Edition because on the box there is the PC/MAC logo and there’s the PEGI rating. Apparently there will be bonus items. When I think about the book is only 48 pages it can easily be put in the ordinary game’s box next to the manual and be like a present for the fans because of the 10th anniversary. Everything from the picture above can be put in such a box but from the look of it EA is going to make more solid carton casing and take our money for something that’s not so special. What do you think you’ll see in the book. If you are a long-term fan of the game, 95% of the information will be of no use to you and the other 5% will be some kind of an advertisement for the Store.
I actually wouldn’t mind having this, but since they’re not releasing it in the US, I’m not going to try too hard to track it down. Maybe someone will scan the book, or at least the interesting parts, and share it online. I still think it’s kind of strange that it won’t be released in the US when it’s about a US made game.
Yeah, I don’t understand why this isn’t going to be sold in the US. After all, they made the game here. Also, how come the US and Canada isn’t getting the free pack?

Because both EA and Dr Pepper are US companies? It makes a lot more sense than us [i]not[/i] getting any of the bonuses.
Well, Renault is an European company with a bigger market here not in the US or Canada. It’s understandable they are not going to waste money for advertising something when there isn’t a market for it.
But there will be an Environmentally Conscious trait in Ambitions, but US and Canada won’t get the items for it! It just doesn’t make sense. Hopefully, they will have a deal for US and Canada with another company….
This items are not ment to be a part from Ambitions. They are a paid ad. People without Ambitions will be able to use them. I’m sure EA will put something else in the EP for your sims to do when they have the environmental trait.
