4/13/10 – More site ramblings and other concerns

It appears this site has seen a huge increase of newcomers who have not been familiar with the way this site has been ran in the past.  I’ve been getting an increase in concerns and comments about how this site is being managed and I’d like to share a moment with you to clear things up.

First – our new reporter, Simillions.  I chose him over the fact that he showed great interest in wanting to help out in the past.  You see, with my current job and my situation of wanting to move out, things are looking to be a tad busy with real life projects.  This makes it a little difficult for me to publish news in a timely matter.  When you run a fansite, it’s a huge priority to be quick in getting the news out there for readers to pick up on.  However, I cannot be there at all times.  Heck, on weekends I’m pretty much non-existent on this site.  That’s where both Luke, Frankie and now Simillions comes into place.

Speaking of Simillions, he has a lot to learn in terms of updating, grammar and English.  You’re bound to see a number of mistakes in his posts.  When you do, please make sure to mention that to him but be polite about it.  It’s may be a bumpy road ahead before it’ll be smooth, but I do believe he has what it takes to shine.  Regardless of what some of you may think, I value his assistance greatly.  Same goes with Frankie and Luke, I couldn’t be any more pleased. 🙂

Onto the site’s update (this is mostly for the newcomers and recent site visitors).  This site has been around a long, long, long time.  10 years coming up in August, in fact.  I started SimPrograms off as a personal blog and to host my own Sim programs for the original game (SiMP3 Player and RoofEdit).  10 years later, it’s still my personal blog, posting what I want regardless of the subject.  If I want to talk about Ghostbusters, then I will.  If I want to share some pictures about my mule or the recent trip up to Columbia, TN for Mule Days, I’ll post them.  If I feel like posting ebay links trying to sell some of my stuff, I can do that too.  Heck, if I want to talk about what I had for breakfast that ended up giving me stomach cramps and possibly calling the Hazmat team into the bathroom – I can do that (but I won’t….that does sound pretty gross after all).

You get the picture…sure, the sites name has Sim in the title and the site will always cover information about Sim/Spore games and Will Wright in general.  However, for whatever else that may seem out of place, the tagline underneath the title “and other useless stuff” comes into play.  To some, this may tick you off.  For those that may not want to continue visiting the site, I respect your opinion and instead would like to direct you to other great major fansites like InfiniteSims, Missing Studios, SimFans and SimTimes (German), Sims 3 Nieuws (Dutch) and SnootySims.  There are many other great sites out there as well, google can help you with that.  Sorry for sounding so blunt, but this is how it will be – this is how it’s always been.  I don’t call this a professional news site, it’s just an ordinary blog. 🙂

On a much sadder note…I was suppose to go check out the house for sale today that I was thinking about getting…but sadly I got an call from the Realtor canceling the meeting as it already has a buyer.  That sucks, because from the pictures and information (and the price) it looked to be well worth it!  Oh well, I suppose this allows me to continue saving more money, thus making my loan cheaper.  I’m checking everyday though that another house in the area pops up for sale.

These end of day thoughts feel pretty good after getting them off my chest.  I should probably make a habit in doing this more often.

I can never resist getting a picture taken at Walmart with Sam the Mule for Columbia Mule Days.  It’s practically a yearly tradition.
