The Sims 3 wins PETA’s Proggy Award for Most Animal-Friendly Game of 2009

Truth be told, I cannot stand PETA.  I know they mean well – and I respected that…but their actions of this past decade is something I will no longer support.  Regardless of my opinion on them, PETA has awarded The Sims 3 with being the most animal-friendly game of 2009 due to the Vegetarian trait you can give your sims:

In the latest version of the biggest-selling gaming franchise ever, Electronic Arts allows players to choose a vegetarian lifestyle. According to game testers, vegetarian Sims, like their real-life counterparts, live longer, age more slowly, and feast on cruelty-free delights—from tofu dogs to ratatouille. And, like all great art, The Sims 3 imitates life—if your Sim eats meat, it will get sick.

EA’s compassionate update to its perennial favorite shows commitment not only to animals but also to the game’s players. In Sims 2, players who wanted vegetarian Sims had to manually create mods to meet their cruelty-free standards. Now, digital life—featuring an official vegetarian lifestyle—is a lot easier.

When PETA heard that you could be a vegetarian in this game, the applauded EA.
When they heard that there was still an option to eat meat, they labeled EA as “Murderers responsible for the rape and torture of thousands of baby puppies”

Firebombing their HQ with corn oil molotov’s is next on their agenda.

Weird. Didn’t they get that sims can’t CHOOSE to become vegetarian, it’s a quasi-genetic thing? Doesn’t that grate against their message that they’re trying to make everybody choose vegetarianism as a lifestyle choice? Or do they prefer that it’s a moral choice kept to the chosen few?

I’m surprised that they didn’t mention you can grow eggs and meat on plants in TS3 too. :p

Wow in a year of 10 billion animal/pet games they choose TS3? Wow sad……
