New World – Longtail Isles

BeyondSims BeyondSims Author

So…with the small amount of time I had today I took a lesson with the Create-A-World tool and actually came up with something decent.  Or I say decent.  To me it is, to you it may be crap.  Either way, I’m happy with it and most of all, it helped me learn the ways of the program!  So yeah, I plan to move on up with a larger world for my next one.  If you can, please let me know how this world – Longtail Isles – works out for you!  Hope I pulled it off without any issues but I doubt that.

Oh, and if possible, could someone please tell me how I can grab a screen of my island?  I had to run edit-in-game mode and then save a screen from in-game.  That works like it is suppose to except that I have to go into a paint program and edit out all of the little special effect boxes within the world.  Any idea to get a clear, interactive image?  I know I must be missing something…

It’s cute! No career buildings, though. But I will definitely try it out. 🙂

Hey, good going! Loving that calm tropical isle vibe. 😀

Hmm, the lack of career ‘rabbithole’ places isn’t such a bad thing… I tend to make quite whimsical and arty Sims, so they could have this island as their bohemian retreat… or maybe send my elders there to retire. ; )

Having said that, a general store and/or bookstore might come in handy for some necessities brought in from the mainland. ; )

Awesome job all in all though, I usually lurk and read your articles with a quiet appreciation for all the hard work you put into the site, but I had to give you the two-thumbs-up for this!

    Jud,
Looks good! Will try it out. 🙂 To answer yer question do what you had been but what I did with mine was I took a screenshot of mine in-game before adding the different “spawners” on their own layer.. That way I didn’t have to edit out when I adjusted the shot in the seperate paint program.

    Nice job, Jud.

I’m thinking as far as capturing a screen shot without all the effects boxes visible. Perhaps you have to export it for use in the game itself and load it as a new neighborhood, take a snapshot of it using print screen if you can’t with C (I can’t remember if that works in edit or map view or not) then replace the screenshot with your new one and export it again.

The only other thing I can think of is save all the stuff you don’t want visible (spawners, etc.) until last and take a screen capture using print screen then crop everything but your neighborhood out. Then add your spawners and whatever else you didn’t want visible.

I’m surprised they didn’t have a capture screen shot button in CAW to begin with.
