Articles & Previews
Are you tired of constantly just sitting at home watching television or playing Sims? Yes? Then we have just the thing for you. How about an adventure trip? The offer includes the following countries: China, France and Egypt. Pricing conditions and travel conditions, see the end of our prospectus, as well as comments from satisfied customers. Let us take you now in three different countries, we put together for you the best itinerary.
While I was playing my sim’s visa expired, but first I got three warnings: within a 24 hour, 12 hour and one hour before expiration. I was pleasantly surprised that it happened not that quickly: my sim was fishing at that very moment and I was worrying if I would be able to save the results of that fishing. But “The trip is over” appeared only when my sim put her fishing tackle away.
Since there was nothing to do in the hometown and the travel option was not active for a few days, I examined the Sunset Valley’s “rabbit holes” and found out that all of them are still closed from the player’s eyes. But don’t get upset! On adventure it is possible to see what goes on inside.
My next experiment was set on the exploration of Build and Buy modes. A new category of items appeared in the Build mode. It is called “Roof sculptures” and consists of all types of roof decorations: dragon’s head, dragon’s statue, and set of ridges. Thanks to Grant Rodiek, I learnt a very useful cheat – buyDebug. With the help of it nothing seems to be impossible. Would you like to build a palace on the pile of ancient coins surrounded by French world-famous sights? Go ahead!
Furthermore, all the information they released gradually had very little information on what I was most interested in as a builder … STUFF! I was starting to worry we weren’t going to get many new build tools and buy objects. I was quite relieved when I sat down at my computer station just to see all the new stuff that was added! In my excitement for my fellow builders, the very first thing I did in World Adventures wasn’t going on an adventure. Instead, I spent quite a bit of time taking screenshots of just all the new stuff and posting the images on facebook so everyone could see.
Well, I cannot wait for World Adventures to come out! This is absolutely the most eager I’ve been about any EP so far. Sometimes it’s hard to review something you’re really impressed with. You tend to skim off a bit of excitement as you don’t want to sound like it’s all hype. But oooh, I’m excited. Obviously it’s up to the individual, but I can’t imagine anyone not getting World Adventures. It certainly wasn’t a question on anyone’s lips at the Simposium. There is something special about this EP, irrespective of whether there were things we begged for more of, as we normally do. In scale and gameplay, in the superb graphics, it’s clear that a larger-than-normal effort has gone into World Adventures. It is more than worthy of being the first in line for The Sims 3. Besides, you get to be an adventurer! I’d bet my childhood stamp collection [if I can find it – mum has it] that everyone will want World Adventures sooner or later, if not already. The main reasons I think that, is because this EP offers what we already enjoyed in a previous EP, but then gives us a whole lot more on top of that. I feel that the added direction in RPG-style gameplay is too significant to bypass, even a couple EPs down the track. I also reckon it will be very hard sitting on the sidelines seeing what others create with World Adventures and not be tempted to join in. The creative boom that will occur in the community from the ability to create mini ‘games’ within lots will be integral, and huge fun. I think as a whole, this EP will be a process of sharing and discovery that’s too cool to miss out on in the overall life of The Sims 3. Considering the depth and scope of the collective tomb-building features and how they might be explored in an endless variety of lots, how they eventually might be themed in fresh ways through custom content and the new Create-A-World tool… the potential to be intrigued, entertained and surprised at what the community can come up with in World Adventures is massive. It’s something I look forward to almost as much as the EP itself. These reasons aside, [and by that I mean the ones that make World Adventures notably different to previous EPs] in the ways that it is similar, I should not overshadow the fact that it is definitely great fun with loads of impressive new objects and a very appealing theme.
I had the chance and the honor to go to the EA Games campus in Redwood City, CA to discover the new expansion pack: The Sims 3 World Adventures.
Sims can travel on new destinations inspired by famous real destinations in the whole world and seek new adventures. To travel the sims can make its reservation of voyage per telephone or computer. With each destination the sims learn 2 songs.
We also showed us during the two days of Simposium a new tool which will be to download soon: The Sims 3 Creator has World Tool. It is about a tool allowing to create its own world, currently there are only Sunset valley and Riverview where it is impossible to pose oneself a new ground as we want, or to make a complete restoration of the downtown area. Thanks to this tool it will be possible to create its own world, lots in way very detailed. For example: to create roads with intersections, with its own textures if it is wanted, the lava, the stones, the vegetation, the lakes where the sims can fish. To create immense lots until 64×64 square, on borders of mountain, to put monuments on residential lots, in short a creativity without almost any limit! On the other hand this tool is for an informed player, because rather difficult at the beginning.
WallSims shares their report on Simposium, with images and information!
Coming to the presentation ideal travel allowance, not quite know what to expect. Is another adaptation of “Vacation” from the first game or maybe something completely new. You could say that the ideal travel is a combination of both of these thoughts, as indeed in addition traveling to new places – like in the holidays and Travels – but we also have to complete a scenario. Game developers are not imposed arms of God we invented the implementation of their game plan! We have a free choice whether we want to play in the implementation of the mission or simply go sightseeing, and meet new Sims in one of three exceptional new surroundings. Players to give freedom of choice in the matter is I think the key to the success of this additive, because it has a chance to satisfaction of a larger community.

Will body shop return?
Grant wasn’t really able to answer this question. As he tried to find a way out of this question it was clear to me there is more behind this idea. So keep your eyes and ears open people! Will the ’sethour’ cheat return?
Sethour isn’t in The Sims 3 because there is already some sort of advanced time cheat going around. (Personally I’m not aware of cheats at all, I never cheat(!). But I would get a clear answer on this in a e-mail.)What will happen to your Sims tomb stone if they die in a tomb or pyramid?
The stone will go Sunset Valley or Riverview, to a family member of even the graveyard. But if the Sim has no other relatives the tomb stone will stay at the place where he/she died. Grant wasn’t sure how long the tomb stone would stay in the tomb/pyramid though. As I mentioned before I would get a e-mail with some more detailed and clear answers on some of the questions I asked. So if you read this Grant: get your EA bum behind the computer and send me some answers, pretty please.
Many more questions, facts and information all from Patrica’s time at the event – Sims 3 Nieuws
The game offers a variety of tools, unique objects, and updates to objects from The Sims 3 so that you can design deadly catacombs, beautiful burial mounds, and wondrous caves filled with treasures. Some of these tools include the new Basement Tool, the Special Items Buy Menu sort, and the Buy Menu Interactions.
To start from the bottom, basements let your Sims build up to four levels of underground rooms. Each basement level can span the entirety of the lot upon which they are built. By cleverly building basements and placing stairs, you can create an underground network that takes Sims through winding halls and dark descents.

As it turns out, I now see that you can’t really compare World Adventures to the earlier Vacation based EP’s as rest and relaxations is certainly not what Adventuring is about. I’m over that comparison now and I see World Adventures as more of a mini-game within the game, like the old, original role playing games seen on the PC. And that’s not a bad thing. You could totally loose yourself as an adventure. In fact, by collecting relics and treasure and building your skills as you go, it’s entirely possible (and tempting to me) for a Sim to make a career out of Adventuring!
So what about all those earlier previews of the game? I found it really strange that EA released so much information about this EP before the fan event. These get-togethers of players are usually the first source of juicy info about the games for our communities but this time was different, maybe due to Create A World, I never did quite get to the bottom of it. But as it makes it a bit harder for us to write fresh articles that aren’t full of things you already know, I’m going to try and focus on the smaller things about the game, and areas that haven’t yet been explored (excuse the pun) in such detail by the big gaming sites, but I will gloss over the big stuff for those of you that live in TSR land 🙂
Another presentation, concerned that what probably everyone waiting. Create World Tool. Tools to create quite a new area for the new generation of Sims. Create World Tool looks phenomenal! It is very easy to use and the possibilities are enormous! I am convinced that all fans of The Sims 3 will appreciate this application at first sight:). Like I wrote on Twitter, it will be available to download for FREE as early as December with the official site of The Sims 3;).
SimForum’s updates with much information!
All in this thread at SimForums!
The main loading screen is a fade from orange to blue with the World Adventures logo in the middle and a plane flying around it. The new icons that pop up above the progress bar all relate to places you can take your sims for adventures. The theme tune remained the same as in the base game, but don’t forget that we were playing a near-complete version of the game. When you send your sims on an adventure via the ‘Travel’ option on the phone, depending on the location you chose you will hear a theme tune for each individual place along with a nice picture in the background – Which is pretty neat! When the destination loads, you are presented with a neat neighbourhood fly-by showing off the locations within and ending up right next to your sim at base camp.
Can you describe the base camp? What is it like?
Pretty basic! In Egypt there are some tents, a male and female shower room and toilet and a kitchen area without a stove. In China there is a hostel style building with bedrooms, shared shower rooms, a kitchen with cooker and a lounge style area with bookcases.
What type of new cheats are there?
Didn’t see any interesting ones except: allowObjectsOnRoofs on/off which apparently lets you put things on your sim’s roofs. Didn’t get chance to try it though.
Could you expand on the loading screens?
The main game loading screen was on a gradient of blue to orange…very pretty. Between the home neighbourhoods and the destinations there were loading screens and they took about a minute to load each time (the PCs were core i7s with at least 3GB RAM and I would guess they had a pretty decent graphics card…they were PCs designed for gaming)
Many more questions answered at SimOperation’s hands-on with World Adventures Report #2!
It’s Thurs evening and I just got back from day one at the World Adventures event. I have to say that I think this may be one of the most fun Sims Eps ever! It is actually more like an adventure game within the sims3 with tombs and dungeons and traps and puzzles to solve. Not only that but content creators will, I am sure, be able to mod the interactive objects that comprise the puzzles and create their own mini adventure quests and games within the sims3. There are some lovely new plants, objects and fun interactions such as karate. Each country has different type of quests and hidden areas to discover. There are treasure chests, traps, hidden walls and stairs and 3 lovely neighborhoods!
China is lush and green with wonderful landscaping hills and valleys, France is very cute with a little countryside village and Egypt is mysterious and exotic.
Last January l was told EA was thinking about having a neighborhood creator as a free pack and now the beta is finally here as the “World Creator”. It will be released sometime in December to all sims3 players and will allow people to create and upload their own worlds to share and play.
Many more questions answered at SterlingSims Day 1 Report!
Thanks to “BuyDebug” cheat you can unlock a new Buy mode slot with many debug objects that
will let you to create tombs and enigmas.
In the debug slot yo can find tomb objects, collectibles spawners and decorative or special objects. In this way you can create amazing locations to explore using the same tools and items that developers use.The cool thing is that you can also “program” those objects by clicking on them. In this way you can decide what is going to happen when a Sim use it.
Here are some example:
-When your Sim step on a special tile, a door will open
-You can put reward items in hidden rooms, like ancient coins. Ancient coins let you buy theme items from local merchants.
-A trap can be invisible and appear only when a Sim walk on it
-You can place a keystone panel on a wall. If your Sim has the key, he can enter the door.
The are different key shapes.
-You can put a treasure or many treasure in a treasure chest.Gems, rocks, flowers, fishes and insect spawners are special items that you can place in your lots. You cannot see them in live mode, but they’ll make the game spawn the collectibles in the places where you put them.
I had a quick chat about World Adventures with producer Grant.
He said that they wanted to add something new to the expansion pack, and I really think that the did a great job, since they introduced a little bit of adventure strategy to a game like The Sims.
Adventures and quick or long, and at the end you can get some rewards. You can get them by reading the board in the base camp.
The game doesn’t have an “Adventurer” career, but you can have your Sim be an adventurer and earn a lot of money finding hidden treasures.
Mummies are the new creatures of the game. Not every sarcophagus contains a mummy, but some of them do… and some others also contain gems or other items.
Mummies are quite slow, but if they catch you… you are in a trouble, guy! A Sim can be cursed by a mummy… and if he doesn’t go to the Sphynx in 2 weeks and try to solve an enigma, he will die.
In Egypt you can catch the mummy fish and small crocodiles. The new EP adds more foods, recipes, vegetables and fishes to the game.
There are 3 new traits: Adventure, Disciplice and Photographer eye.
If you reach the top of Martial arts skill, you can meditate and teleport. For the future, they will try to create expansion packs like this one, that introduces something totally new to the game. The have many ideas, but every time the add things that make sense with EP theme only, of course.

- Patricia: So far I only see 1 ‘ sleepy’ gnome in buy mode. Not sure how to get it in other lands, if that is possible.
- But they will make a random pose. You don’t get to say how they have to pose for you.
- So far I have seen 1 sort of camera, like a throw away one. And you can ask random sims do make a pose. They pose a few seconds.
- Patricia: But she makes ugly photo’s because she’s bad at making them, hehe.
- Patricia: My sim bought a camera in France and she’s taking pictures with it in Sunset Valley. Ugly ones if I’m being honest….
- Patricia: I have also asked about sethour. But it’s not in it. Because there is a advanced time cheat, or something like that.
- Patricia: Yes, I have bought a scooter in France. I’m riding on it in Sunset Valley now. It goes automatically in inventory to use.
- From what I’ve seen you can create open stores in other vacation worlds. But in Sunset/Riverview you’ll need premade stores.
- You can’t stay longer then your Visa allows you. When it’s time you get a message your vacation is over, you’re send back then.
- Patricia: By the way, crocodiles probably can be caught at and beyond fish skill level 4. They are very cute!
- Patricia: After visiting France, which is beautiful by the way, I can’t travel for 2 days. Give me some questions you want to know. 🙂

- By TSR Steve: Hi all! I’m at the EA event and wil be blogging here as the days go by, along with other attendees from 10 countries! Woot!
Egypt is full of tombs! We’ve already seen the pyramids, but we took our sim for a look around the sphnix. The sphinx has 5 internal tombs to explore and are pretty much the same as other ones (apart from the obvious trap/activated behaviours being moved around, and the design changed). The main locations for Egypt-based adventuring is the great sphnix, the pyramids of the sky and Desert’s end. Desert’s end has a few tombs and small buildings in. Whilst adventuring sims can collect coins and gems.
Hi everyone! I’m currently at EA in California, and I’m about to go play World Adventures!! But before I get to the game I thought I’d post a few things I learned from the demos.
- 3 new major skills: nectar making, martial arts, and photography
- TONS of new skins; also new outfits, hair, objects, etc. (including shower in a can)
- visa points: three levels; higher the level, the better the vacation homes and rewards; you can also stay on vacation longer
- basement tool: can go 4 levels down
- 6 new grape types (still don’t know the specifics, yet)
- markets at every location (China, Egypt, France)
- 2D camel
- cheat: buydebug (to be explained later)
- create your own tombs
- no sicknesses/diseases still
- go on vacation for 3 to 12 days
- you can be beaten up or cursed by a mummy; once cursed, you have 14 days to be cured. You have to plead to the Spinx, enter a special tomb, and find the Soul Piece statue in order to cure the curse
- special ax breaks through boulders
- you can buy as many vacation homes as you want
- create a world tool!!! to be released in December as a beta free download
- it’ll have its own section in the exchange; place lots anywhere, design terrain yourself, rotate/turn/lift/overlap items, build roads and intersections, and import your own files to customize (I’ll go into detail later)

Hey. We’ve attended The Sims 3 World Adventures event in Reading today, where we got to play the game for a while and answer as many of your questions as we can. However, we were not able to play the France map (Although it did load) We also took part in the official video for the event which should be released soon. The only downer to all of this is that we must keep what we’ve found out bottled up until Friday – So check back then for all of our updates on The Sims 3 World Adventures.

You can see into the shops, but when you want to purchase items, you will have to talk to a shop owner, such as grocer, bookstore owner, artifact shop owner, and food store owner
I know! This is going to be such an exciting pack after all! Haters be gone, I welcome this into The Sims series 😀
Thanks for the embeds Jud!
No problem
Here you have a picture feed for all the pictures: http://simgoodies.com/album/rss.php

Hi, you could add to your liste WallSims.net, Marianne, the webmistress is also at EA’s 😉
Will do, thank you Ange!
Will you add the feed?

Considering that the images are the same ones that are embedded in this post, I don’t see a need to repeat with the RSS video, but I’ll check the video!

Very nice! Thanks for all sites to look up. I especially like China and France, but Egypt looks good as well. I could not wait to get this game anytime:)
I thought France was the least exciting destination of them all, but I really do enjoy the layout of that place and the bright colors. Gonna give that a swing first, then Egypt and off to China. Can’t wait until the crafty modders over at Paysites Must Be Destroyed or Mod The Sims create a hack to where we can live and stay at the destinations!
Amazing job Judhudson! I really appreciate that (and I know I’m not the only one).
ps. Tomb Creation 101 is the same article published by EA a while ago, isn’t it?
You’re correct – it is. There may be a few new details at the end, but I decided to include it for the folks that may of missed it the first time around 🙂 Thanks for the kind comment!
