For the most part the stylus controls are on target. Sometimes things over lap, which makes it hard to pick up, pet, or shake what you want. The hardest thing is shaking fruit from trees, where you have to shake the tree, to get the fruit to drop. There were times where I was rubbing a tree like crazy and it didn’t register. It was frustrating since when you start your habitat it’s pretty much the only thing you can do.
The look of the game is what you would expect from a DS game. The animals look recognizable, but they don’t look great. A lot of the animals look exactly the same, and some animals look better than others. The crocodiles especially look like green logs with feet. You tell the babies from the adults based on their size. The only animals that look different male or female are the lions, the female lions don’t have the male’s huge mane.
Hmmm what’s this? A review of a DS game with a good score? No way! But it is true, Game Guys Review gives SimAnimals Africa DS a B- score. Not too shabby…especially for the first known review on the game.
