Sadly, I’m not THAT old. I’ve never had a Commodore 64, and truth be told, never knew there was a SimCity version of the game programmed for it. 1Up takes a look back at the game with the following article:
The SimCity franchise has endured over the decades because it’s so easy to pick up and play. The Commodore 64 version of the game especially aimed for a non-threatening interface. Through experimentation, trial and error, and common sense, aspiring city planners learned that commercial zones do well next to residential zones, and that people don’t dig living beside nuclear power plants. However, they’re pretty open-minded about living next to an irregular ocean formed in the shape of an “F,” and several other predictable letters ending with a “K”. Waterfront property is waterfront property.
