SimAnimals Africa is still a ways off, but before you know it it’ll sneak right up and pounce directly on top of you! Lucky for you, EA doesn’t want to hurt you (your wallet and bank account is a different story), they just want to grab your attention with their newly redesigned SimAnimals Africa website!
Huge thanks to both SimCookie and SimOperations for passing the information along!

“The Elephant Hero”, by Veronica Gonzalez – Associate Producer
Hello! My name is Veronica Gonzalez and I’m an Associate Producer on SimAnimals Africa for the Wii™ platform. This game is all about making friends with animals and discovering what amazing things they can do. Each animal has a unique talent that shapes the world around them. Imagine a desert. It’s very hot. Plants are dying and the animals are thirsty.
A herd of zebra is drinking at the only river, but they are not alone. The crocodiles are staying cool for now, but once their tummies start to rumble, zebras beware! There are patches of yummy grass, but all zebras know that tall grass often means hiding, hungry lions. If only there was a safe area for the zebras!
In the distance a funny trumpeting sound can be heard. The sound becomes louder until a mommy elephant and her baby appear. The mommy elephant has the ability to help the zebras but she cannot do so without you.
When you gain trust with her and become her best friend, she will let you steer her around the area. Before that, you need to make sure the mommy elephant has enough food and water in her tummy, as well as lots of fun. You can do this by feeding her, playing Ring Toss, or petting her until she trusts you completely. Through your interactions with her, she becomes stronger and more charming! Your friendship will also grow and she will trust you completely.
Once you’re best friends, you can have the mommy elephant spray water from her trunk into a dried-up pond. The pond will fill, the zebras will drink safely from it, and grass will grow around the pond. Together the zebras and elephants can be friends and enjoy this rich land that you and the mommy elephant have made for them.
“Making Friends” by Matt Yang
Hey, everybody! My name’s Matt Yang, and I’m the Lead Designer of SimAnimals Africa for the Nintendo™ DS. I’m going to talk a little about this brand new game we’ve been working on.
Well, with a name like SimAnimals, we should probably start with … the animals! There are a dozen different animal species that you can find in SimAnimals Africa, from Aardvarks to Zebras! The more areas you explore, the more animals you’ll find. However, if you want to keep them around, you’ll need to make friends with them.
When you first meet an animal, they’ll be a little cautious around you. They’ll struggle if you pick them up, and won’t like being put in your backpack. However, if you feed them their favorite foods and give them a nice rub now and then, they’ll soon take a liking to you. Once you’ve tamed them, they’ll let you rub their bellies and will happily let you carry them from area to area.
Remember though, these are wild animals. If you decide to be mischievous with them, they won’t like it and they’ll avoid you. If you keep pestering them, they might even fight back!
Earning an animal’s friendship has another cool perk. If you can get an animal to completely love you, you’ll be able to unlock and use their secret ability! Every animal species has a unique ability that can help you on your journey. If you need help finding bugs, a friendly meerkat can dig for them. Or, if there’s a lion that’s been pestering your zebras, you can use the zebra’s power to give that lion a kick he won’t forget! There’s a bunch more, but I don’t want to spoil the surprise. You’ll just have to find those on your own. 🙂
