Quite a few people are upset with the fact that World Adventures will be priced higher than the Sims 2 expansions – mainly due to the fact that EA is shoving the Simpoints cards in the box, trying to get us to use them in their stores. I’d like to state that this doesn’t really bother me…because in the end I will pick it up at the regular price – either via a retail sale or wait. However, word has it that ‘Reclaim your Game‘ set up a petition for those who disagree with the $40 pricetag, in which you can sign here. If you really want to start a movement, I suggest standing behind these folks – they did play a HUGE role in helping stop SecuROM!
We, the undersigned, petition Electronic Arts to lower the worldwide price of The Sims 3: World Adventures scheduled for release on 17 November 2009 in North America.
As you can see, these are the scheduled recommended retail prices at release for World Adventures and a comparison in price of the original recommended retail price of The Sims 2: Apartment Life—the last instalment of expansions for The Sims 2—in brackets:AU: $59.95 ($49.95)
UK: £29.99 (£19.99)
US: $40 ($30)We understand that World Adventures will come with US$10 worth of SimPoints and fifteen exclusive items for download upon product registration. However, we feel that this price increase is unreasonable, unfair and unjustified. As stated above the varying prices planned globally are very expensive and fall in line with the cost of a full game rather than an expansion pack. A significant portion of players will not use the SimPoints that come with the game as they have no interest in using the Sims 3 Store.
We believe there should be an option for players who do not want the SimPoints. We propose that the retail price should be both affordable and reasonable for all consumers. We believe that the retail price should be in line with that of previous Sims expansion titles. And finally, we believe that Electronic Arts should include an e-card that promotes The Sims 3 Store. With this option, people can choose to buy SimPoints only if they wish to.
We request Electronic Arts to respect their consumer’s financial situation and maintain the price of their Expansion Packs at Sims 2 levels for the forseeable future.
Regards from loyal fans of The Sims series.

Hey arcording to my calculations it should cost AUS $50 but I can live with sixty
$ 40 in Hungary has also been the accessories!
Interesting, Slovenia’ll have the same prices for Sims 3 EPs as they were for Sims 2 EPs 😆
Why would someone not want simpoints?
I’m okay with the price becuase I get simpoints which I would’nt be able to get otherwise
@Robodl95 Although you’re getting simpoints, you’re not getting them free, and anyways, why get simpoints, let alone buy them if the stuff is gonna be free at MATY?
I’m all for simpoints, as long as they’re actually ‘free’.
To be honest, I think players in the UK have it worse than those of you in the US.
You have a $10 increase and get $10 worth of Simpoints. We get a £10 increase, but only £6 worth of simpoints. £10 is worth around $16 dollars I believe. Though to be fair again, a lot of online stores in the UK take £5 off the price. When the base game was out, most stores took £10 off the price which made it the same price as The Sims 2 when it came out.
But I totally disagree with EA and adding their simpoints in. I really dislike digital items, not just because it’s more expensive. I’d rather they put the items in a Stuff Pack which I could go out and physically buy, and own, and have it in my hand. =\ The Stuff Pack content was always better than The Sims 2 Store items in my opinion. Most of the time anyway.
These are not free points when we have to pay $10 for the points. They would be free points if the EP still cost $30 like the normal price for EP’s and still included the $10 worth of points. And why are they charging us for the points now when we got them for free with the base game? The Sims 3 base game was still $50 like normal for a base game and it still came with $10 worth of points, thus making those points free. All this is, is just making it required for us to buy the points when buying the EP so that the store can be used. I think a lot of people have made it clear that they did not like the store at all, so why enforce it? Leave it optional, at least. And I agree that SP’s are better than the store. I’d much rather have SP’s instead. Oh well. What can we really do, you know?
Not buying it anyway – the base game is as boring as hell and not worth the money.
Wow. What a load of crock! I really had very little interest in this expansion when I thought it would be $30, but there is no way I’m paying $40 for an expansion that I know will interest me very little, especially when that extra $10 is coming from a Sim Points card that is being essentially FORCED upon the buyer… when I don’t even want it! And the base game itself cost $50!
I didn’t think EA could get any more money hungry than they already were (obviously leaving out items just to put in the store, etc)… but they surprised me with this move. It probably shouldn’t by now, but geez. c_c;
I’m not buy anymore Sims3 stuff. The base game sucks big time. Just add the visuals and color cloning to the Sims 2.
