You know, one of the many things I hate is instruction manuals. Yes, they are important and for the most part, answer a majority of questions when it comes to playing games. But that’s not what I’m griping about. The part that I hate is the fact that when you get the game, you’re looking forward to actually playing it and would rather not focus on the manual! It takes away time you could be using to play the game!
So as a treat (and a request from Connor over at SimOperations), I’ve scanned the manual for The Sims 3. Since the game doesn’t come out until tomorrow (and a few days after for other regions), I’ll give you a head start reading the manual. That way, come on release day you’ll be ready to play the game!
Thanks for posting this!
Thanks Jud!
Thanks Soo Much For Posting 😀
I’m A Happy Bunny =:)
Thanks Jud.
Did you scan it in black and white or is the manual completely void of color including the cover? Also is there a way to make it larger for those of use who can’t see well enough to read that small?
The cover is in color as well as the very back with your serial code. The rest are gray pages. Oh, and the screens I uploaded are very, very huge. In flickr, when you view the image, look at the top of the image and you should see an icon that says “All Sizes”. Click that and you can see the largest size image 🙂
Urgh I should proof read after someone distracts me while typing.
Those of us who can’t see well enough to read that small?
Oddly enough there’s no all sizes appearing for me. I logged in thinking that was it but all that did was enabled comments. Oh well I’ll have my copy by this time tomorrow hopefully. Our GameStop usually gets their shipments right before they open in the morning so they have til noon before I show up demanding my preorder. I’m being generous since I have other places to go tomorrow morning first.
Come to think of it I don’t think I’ve seen the all sizes option on Flickr in a long time for anyone. It must be an issue with them and nothing to do with you. Sorry.
Glad to hear the cover is in color at least. I can certainly understand them cheaping on the inside of the manual because most people don’t read them anyways or lose them. I know I wouldn’t know where any of mine were if I didn’t constantly need the code off the back.
Over this image: http://www.flickr.com/photos/simprograms/3584767681/ you do not see the one little icon with the magnifying glass that says all sizes?
If you don’t, add in the url at the end of each picture “sizes/” and you’ll be able to view them in their original size.
I haven’t seen a game manual in full color for years.
This one still does that annoying thing that seems to be de rigeur for all manuals though — it uses a tiny font over a background grayscale bitmap which makes it even harder to read :/
Whatever happened to black text on a white background? Save the decorations for the margins please! :p
P.S. Wow — does the manual really skip right over Story Progression? I was hoping to find out more about how that is SUPPOSED to work :/
PPS. OK, somebody else just pointed out to me that it’s on page 14.
It’s interesting — the manual actually specifies that other Sim families can autonomously move out if Story Progression is on, which means it’s a feature, not a bug. That decision still completely befuddles me. Didn’t the devs understand that folks get attached to ALL their sims, not just one household at a time? :/
No, I didn’t but the sizes thing works. Thanks Jud.
The story progression thing is one thing that I hope is killed. Not so much everything else but from what I’ve read the moving out happens at an alarming rate. I’ve talked to people who have had a good 15 households move out in less than 2 weeks game time. I know some neighbors can be annoying but come on now.
Once in a blue moon would be fine with me but in their tests a family they just moved in moved out before the start of the next day. It’s a feature that is certainly bugged. But then again what would a Sims game be without stupid bugs that ruin the game. Jump Bug anyone?
Actually, this sounds much worst especially if you play more than one family since you could very well come back to find your family is has moved on while playing someone else.
Have you actually seen this as being a problem Jud? If a family moves it’ll tell you in the newspaper.
Now I feel stupid. The reason the sizes weren’t showing up is because Ad Blocker Plus deemed then icons as ads and made them invisible. I’ll go stand in the corner now.
LOL! How’d that happen? By default, it shouldn’t of blocked them (I too use Adblock Plus)
They probably were blocked when I blocked spacer.gif in order to work around their blocking of downloading images.
I wouldn’t be happy if they killed everything about story progression. I like it that families can acquire new members, and so on. I like the fact that households are ever-changing, so there’s always a new set of dysfunctional families to straighten out when I decide to move on.
I just think that families moving out is something they could have omitted… or at least, check iwth the player if it’s a family they care about. If the town gets too full, start slowing down or stopping move-ins, offing elders younger and slowing down autonomous births.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
how do you get in to buy mode on the ps3 ?
