http://llnw.thesims3.com/images/news_icons/news_patch_big_ver796102.gifMac users, a patch should be available to you to download if you open up the ‘Game Launcher’ and select “Game Updates”.  According to the official Sims 3 site, here’s what the patch fixes:

This patch upgrades the Sims 3 launcher for the Mac to have the same functionality as the launcher does on a PC.

Complete list of changes:

  • Mac Users can now export custom content from within their game like Sims, objects, lots and patterns.
  • Mac Users can now find their screenshots and videos in the Uploads tab of the launcher.
  • Mac Users can now upload screenshots and videos to My Studio
  • Mac Users can now upload custom content like Sims, objects, lots and patterns to the Sims 3 Exchange.
  • Mac Users can download custom content from the Sims 3 Exchange and the Sims 3 Store.
  • Mac Users can install and uninstall custom content in their game.
  • Mac Users can “Open Launcher” while the game is running from the options menu.
  • Mac Users can view patch notes on available patches in the Game Updates tab of the launcher.
  • Mac Users can choose to run the game with or without custom content from the launcher
  • On the offline launcher page, the “click here” link to refresh the page when user is connected to the Internet has been fixed
  • Mac Users can now set their Sims 3 Store purchasing preferences to “Always download immediately after purchase”

The only place you can obtain this patch right now is thru that route.  If anyone happens to come across the actual file, let me know and I’ll upload it to this site 🙂

When i go to game launcher and game updates, it says my game is up to date.

Same here, Game Version .1.0.631.00107, says “No Patches Available”, still cant use custom content with this launcher version. Come on guys, fix this, is always that we MAC Users are busted when it comes to games.

Would it have to do with the country you live in? I’m not sure if select countries released the patch and the others are holding of til next week?

  3. simstar258 Reply

I hope so, I’ll be so mad if they let Mac users down again.

  4. Alabaas Reply

  5. simstar258 Reply

i cant even find the option to update the game how do i get this up? Damn this whole thing!!!! all i want is to play my game!

  9. Harmonica Reply

I just found this info, it might help. I’m currently in the processing of ‘repairing my disk permissions’.

I’ll post again, to update the status in a few minutes…

ANGELA: The option to update the game is on the initial screen that pops up, after you’ve installed the game. The launcher, I think it’s called? Under “welcome”, I believe….

I don’t know, I’m not much of a Mac person to be honest…

i need a patch to speed up time or the game is almost unplayble!!

For Mac users, the “trickiest” part is locating the Sims3.ini file within the package. It’s buried pretty deep, but if you use the guide Judhuson linked to above and the process from this blog (http://asilee.com/2009/06/19/the-sims-3-speed-up-time-for-windows/) you can fix the time issue.

NOTE: You can use TextEdit to “Open With…” the Sims3.ini file. And make sure you do the smart thing and back up your Sims3.ini file before you do anything.

I have a Mac as well, and when the Sims 3 Launcher comes up, it asks me right away if i want to download an update.
Then it starts to download, but stops about 1/4 of the way in, and quits the sims 3 so i cant even start my game!

i bought it the day it came into stores, and when i started the game onto my mac,
in create a family, the sims were black silhouettes, so i uninstalled it for awhile
and today installed it again, and now i am having this problem.

if you have any help for me please email me,
    courtn3yfiasco@aol.com

    Thanks!

hey, sorry, i’m having this problem too. Using mac and when i click on updates it says there’s no updates available. But when i tried to download any sims stuff from the net it says i need to update it.
    I clearly haven’t updated the sims 3 to 1.2.7.

And when i download it, i just don’t even know what to do?
I know it has something to do with the bin file but I’m hesitant to delete or copy any file into random location…
    anyone wanna help?

email me or just answer it here please! fier_factor17@hotmail.com

i downloaded the patch but now i don’t know where to place it!

    1. Judhudson Reply

The 1.2.7 patch is for PC only, wont work for Mac. They had their own patch near the game’s release – in which you probably already updated it thru the launcher. The 1.2.7 patch for the Mac release is unknown at this time. But once it is made available, the launcher will detect it. 🙂

just click the ‘play’ button to play the game and it will ask you to update.

I wish I could offer them separate from the launcher but I cannot obtain the files for Mac owners.

  18. Ina Reply

    Hey all!
Could someone please help me out? I am looking for the Launcher Update Patch for Mac. For some reason I cannot download it from the official site.

    PLUS:
I cannot save my game. My computer (new MB Pro) freezes. I was trying to save the game before for 1hr and nothing happens. Any ideas?

    1. Judhudson Reply

You may want to drop a note in the official Sims 3 forums – I do not have the files for the Mac versions otherwise I’d offer them as well 🙂 I think the saving issue was fixed in a patch for Macs though, so I really hope they can get you squared away!

I don’t have access to the mac files, so I can’t really help in that department 🙁 You’ll have to update by the launcher

DONT UPDATE IT FROM THE EARLY ONES. I did this and never ever got custom content to install again.

Can you guys please help me?
I’ve had Sims 3 on my Mac for a few days now, and it’s been working well. However, I was offered to update my game yesterday and I clicked Okay, then it said I needed to change some settings to let it update, but it was taking too long and I canceled it. Now I can’t open my game! Well, it says it’s open, it shows the window, but it just doesn’t appear!
    PLEASE HELP! 🙁

Alexa, Can you uninstall and reinstall?

  24. Alexa Reply

I just didn’t want to uninstall it and lose all my saved work.

    BUT IT SAVED!
    My preciouuuus Sims 🙂

  25. Jonell Reply

I am having some similar problems. The Sims 3 was working fine on my Mac, then I installed World Adventures and it all went downhill. After installing World Adventures, it said I needed an update because the expansion pack wasn’t compatible or something. The update would start, get halfway through and say “download failed.” I uninstalled and reinstalled, same thing. I can’t even play the regular game without the expansion pack anymore. It won’t download the updates. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  26. Twirls Reply

Hey I just got this macbook and i installed the sims three and it worked great!. Then i installed the expansion pack adventures and the game was a little choppy and i couldnt save so I uninstalled(trash canned) it. Now it WoN’T PlAy the base game. It opens to the launcher but when i hit play it just flicks to my desktop and nothing happens. HELP!!!

  27. Sej86 Reply

I hate how the always jip the mac users. They could have released the newest update later when the patch is also available for macs. *sad face* I may just stop playing since its always a big hassle every time there is an update.

  28. Andres Icaza Reply

Hey, Does anybody know if this patch will help users with the new 2011 MacBook Pro? If not, does anybody know when their gonna come out with an update so I can play my game? :/

  29. Pacifist Dub Reply

dumb, we shouldn’t have to help eachother like this. EA should be sorting it out. The newest update for Mac doesn’t work and there’s no option to download older updates
