I’m waiting to see gameplay videos on Spore Hero Arena…I know the Wii (Spore Hero) version will be on the top of my list to get, but I can’t seemed to get hyped for the DS version. EA took a moment to pull Jason Haber, producer of Spore Hero Arena and spoke with him on his project:
Q: How does the game fit in the Spore universe?
A: The game takes place in the same universe as Spore Hero on the Wii. The back story is, a huge explosion sends red meteor fragments and blue meteor fragments flying through space. The blue fragments are good and allow you to power up, but the red fragments are corruptive. Not realizing the evil influence of the red meteor, a forgotten master makes some of those fragments into medals. Now you must travel the universe and defeat a series of galactic champions to reclaim those fragments and rid the various arenas of their corruptive power.Q: What are some of the game’s highlights in terms of action or game modes?
A: Based on the huge success of the Spore creators, we’ve created a new 3D editor for Spore Hero Arena. That and the immersive arena-based fighting are the definite highlights for me. And the two are tied together–how you create your creature determines what special abilities it has to use in combat. You can edit your creature throughout the game to change its specializations in order to take on different bosses. Plus, there are some exploration elements that are a lot of fun.
