If you live in the UK, check out your newstands to pick up the latest copy of PC Zone. The newest magazine reviews The Sims 3, and according to EA, they were given the best score yet from The Sims series (beating out both The Sims and The Sims 2) earning a 92!
This is just the first of many, many reviews that you’re going to see floating around the net – so get ready!
Thanks to rickyv over at the Sims 3 UK forums, they’ve scanned the article for those who do not live in the UK to read it. If you are from the UK, then please support PC Zone by picking up this issue 🙂 I added them to my flickr gallery – be sure to click the images and view them at their native size (huge!). Hope you don’t mind me using flickr – I know it can get a little annoying at times if you’re the end user, but I find it to be one of the best picture uploaders I’ve used!
Eh, I hope someone puts this on the internet soon, I really want to read this, but I can’t be bothered to go out and buy it…LOL. I’m not sure if the shops around my area would have this, or if I would have to trek into town for it…Hmm.
w00t. Someone scanned ’em in. Yay!
I can’t wait to get off of work, want to read them so bad! 😀
WTF, I know that the magazine is dated for next month, but publishing the review three weeks before it’s released?
It seems the guy really hated the game
Wow I want it!! I just nipped to my shop and couldn’t see the magazine but as its dated July that might be why, I’ll have a look tomorrow after my exam where I can savour it properly! 92 is a great score, I really cannot wait to play it!
A review written by someone who played The Sims for the first time? Totally not professional. Nothing that I don’t know are in the article. And the reviewer even got too many mistakes in the article. Shame! Some of the so-called “new” features are actually already available in The Sims 2. And by reading the whole article, nothing said and done by the reviewer mirrored the right way the game should be rated. He gave the score “just because” it’s The Sims. I am a Sims’ fan and it’s a shame that someone like what-his-name wrote the review for the most anticipated game of this decade. We demand a re-review!
I’m sorry to say that but is one poorly written article. Basically it just double (triples, quadruples… ?) every other preview that came out in the last year or two. Shame. Anyway, I don’t think that the fact it has been done by a sim-virgin is a problem itself though it keeps a fundamental question unanswered – is Sims 3 an evolution, revolution or something in between?
On the other hand, it gives me confidence – apparently I could be by a game ‘journo’ too! 😉
Even with my pathetic writing skills I could probably pull it off as well LOL 😀
I agree. That was a rubbish review! And the minimum requirements printed in the first page don’t even mention XP or Mac, which both support the new game!!! There were no real comparisons between the previous versions and the new one other than what has already been established by EA like loading times… dreadful!
Thankfully other reviews will start popping up soon.
Buy the issue? Ha!
Why would I want to buy mediocre writing that can’t even get all the basic facts right? Did anyone bother to do any research before writing this? It’s not hard, there’s plenty of info out there, and there must be someone at the magazine he could have cross-referenced his experience with… I get that writing a review from a newbie point of view will sell the game to non-fans but basic research into basic stuff like minimum requirements is expected! Plus why not make it a team review where you get the impression of a newbie and a fan that knows the sims and the sims 2?
