O Sim BR is currently attending the Sims 3 Brazilian Fanday event, and they’ve just received word of a tidbit on the first Sims 3 expansion! They spoke to the manager of Marketing for EA and were told that it will have something to do with job occupations and work!
Keep checking O Sim BR for up-to-date information on the Brazilian event!
not to get completely ahead of myself, but i mean, we did see *inside* of the hospital in that OC video…..maybe it works more in depth with jobs and careers so we get to go inside the buildings?
Either that, or an OFB style EP, or a combination of both 🙂
From a tech point of view, “opening up the rabbit holes” seems very feasible, if the inside is loaded separately from the outside… so it’s actually a separate area, the way interiors are in most RPGs. If they handle it like that, there are really tons of possibilities 🙂
Well, I don’t think it gives us that much information, probably more jobs. But that’s something we should be expecting from the beginning anyway.
Making workplaces and shops more “visible” would be nice though.
noo, i really wanted Seasons to be first lol! but this is cool to i guess! I guess more jobs means more buildings to make the town look even better!! 😀 Hope every EP comes with a town like with Sims 2! 😀
@Thomas: I doubt that. The size of the neighbourhoods will simply overwhelm people’s computers…
I was really dissapointed when i heard that this expansion would link with jobs but I think it would be a great idea if this ep would turn out like The Sims Superstar ep, but i highly doubt it would 🙁
I really find it hard to believe EA’s marketing manager would divulge something like that. But if it’s true, great! Bring on more holes!
True Jack, but i hope it will happen lol 😀
I hope they fixed the stairs tool, to make it more useful, because — in Sims 2 — it was incredibly frustrating to use.
Sometimes, I would spend two-three days building an awesome house, I would try to add a staircase then the tool wouldn’t work right.
On top of that, when you have an already built house that lacks a foundation, the tedious dummy tricks become ridiculous.
Or, maybe I just haven’t figured it out yet, but anyhow, it should be easier to use — the stair tool and roofing tool were both reasons I couldn’t stand that game.
I was playing Team Fortress 2, and I talked to somebody who played Sims 3. He or she said that Sims 3 is nearly identical to Sims 2 — but “Worse!”, because “it has LESS items and LESS building tools.”
For example: I asked if they fixed the Stair Tool, and he/she said “no”, that they actually __REMOVED__ connecting stairs.
Also, supposedly there’s no hot tub, no pool table, very few doors and windows and textures to choose from, all of which were the exact same styles as what were seen in Sims and Sims 2 + plus a few that were uglier.
Supposedly, there’s no pets in the game, which is amazing to me, because after playing Sims 2 with all the content from expansion packs, I was expecting Sims 3 to blow Sims 2 away by combining all those packs into one mega-game [plus MORE], but there is supposedly LESS CONTENT than what can be had from the Original Sims 2.
WHY IN — GOD’S NAME — WHY?!!?!? Are they going to start milking people for more money, just to buy the same stupid crap over and over again via expansion packs?
He/she said, the fact that the loading screens are gone and you can free roam makes the game speedy, but those are the only two big changes about the game, and they’re not big enough changes [interactive-wise] to rival other free roaming games like Bully or GTA5 (which I thought was boring as hell).
Supposedly, Sims 3 is better than Spore, at least, but it still isn’t a big enough upgrade over Sims 2 + Nightlife, let alone Sims 2 by itself.
I’m so sad; I was looking forward to this game. Now, there’s no reason to play it, because I already have Sims 2 and a few of the expansion packs, so why the hell would I buy games that I already bought?
Based on the article and tracy’s comment, I assume they took off a lot or some of the features of the base sims 3 to add on the future EP. I mean what else could they do if they put them all on the base game.. sigh
I heard it has to do something with education, maybe a uni and maybe no more rabbit holes so you can see what your sim is doing inside at work or at school. That would be a good EP with tons of possibilities
I can live without university, but I’d love to have pets, vacation and businesses back. Those were so fun and great additions to the game i hope they keep them.
the sims 3 is great. they didnt remove connecting stairs. they just combined normal stairs with them. if you want to make connecting stairs. on your deck. place it on the edge of it. it instantly turns into connecting stairs. and to make it wider. set the Width to 2,3, etc. its pretty much the same. a little easier. i noticed alot of stuff from the sims 1 was put in. the virtual reality set. one of the radios. and a few fireplaces. but it IS like sims 2. but your more free to go places. i give it…. 4 in a half out of 5. just because im still noobish at it
